Hey, Warrior Women!

How are you doing towards your goal of 24 hours in 2 weeks? I was disappointed to get sick on Sunday night and not only need to lie down, but also eat more. However, I just totaled up my hours and it doesn't seem to have hurt me badly. So far, I've logged 9:40 towards my goal. I only have 14 hours & 20 minutes to go & 10 whole days to do them. As long as I average 86 minutes/day, I"ll be fine.

Today's plan is to do yoga & dance this morning and then a fair amount of walking in the afternoon. How about yours? Are you pumped? Is this difficult or is this cake?

Mwah! Love you strong, dedicated women!

It's going to be a challenge for me, but I'm on track and think I can do it.

Despite yesterday's off-day my legs are still kind of tired and sore (this time from strength training and some new exercises, not running, plus just an exhausting day involving lots of sitting yesterday, heh), so I didn't run this morning. I might fit in a short run tonight and will walk if not. Also going to try to make it to the pool for the first time in a while (added perk, hot tub afterwards).

As I mentioned on my home page, I just realized that this Sunday is an annual biking event here that is lots of fun, but which I haven't done for a while (since I've not been in shape to do it). One morning a year the city shuts down Lake Shore Drive for cars and lets people ride their bikes on it. It's a round trip of 30 miles, so I'm hoping to get some good hours in on Sunday morning.

That bike ride sounds like loads of fun, lemurcat....kinda like a bike party and everyone is invited! Hope the weather is great on Sunday!

I've been going at it in the garden, turning over the soil with my trusty garden fork! I usually do it with a rototiller, but this year I'm leaving the mulch in place and just turning the soil in the rows to mix it with composted horse pucky. Early today I got several hills of winter squash varieties and zucchini planted. I will log at least 2 hours gardening and then I'm planning to go to a yoga class later this afternoon (see you there, Sue!?)....which is what I did yesterday and it was perfect to finish up a day in the garden with yoga! I felt so good after!

I am dropping weight, but it's weight that I already lost earlier and then regained from attending a bunch of potlucks and not logging the food accurately, I guess.

Anyway, thanks for the challenge, Sue. It is not a piece of cake, but if I keep paying attention, I should be able to get in close to 24 hours. If we started this on the 16th, then I've done 690 minutes or 11.5 hours, if my math is correct (counting today's predicted activity). Please let me know if I should be logging from a different day!

    Happy Thursday!

Today I was able to get in 126 active minutes. I loved going to the gym today and it gave me more time at night to relax. Technically I worked but there was a little relaxing also. If I remember correctly we have been at this for 5 days. So far I have logged 783 active minutes or 13.05 hours. Wow now that I see that in black and white that's a good amount! I am meeting with a wellness coach tomorrow morning at my new gym so I may end up doing some new activities.

Alright! Now, I'm done. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I needed to force myself to finish my exercise. Being in an office really zaps me like nothing else. Well, the good news is that I won't need to go in again until next Wednesday! And, I logged 121 minutes today. I guess it doesn't always have to be a joyful experience. Sometimes, it's enough to just get it done. Eleven hours & 41 minutes done. Twelve hours & 19 minutes to go!

Rachael, that's great that you've joined a new gym! You are doing so well and you deserve to have a modern gym to compliment your excellent new fitness! I'm pretty sure you're in the lead here on hours logged for this 24 hours in the last half of May challenge.

Susan, I wish I could meet you at yoga class! My best friend from Maine is in town right now, and I think that's as close as I'm going to get for a while. You are doing amazingly well at a challenge that you did not initially want to do! You are amazing and I wish I could be out there gardening with you, too!

Stephanie, I hope you enjoyed your swim & run or walk! That bike ride sounds amazing! I grew up in Chicago and love the idea of a bunch of people on bikes taking over Lake Shore Drive:)

The truth is that all of you and even the ladies who didn't check in today are superstars! Otherwise, you wouldn't BE warrior women! Or my friends! Or rockin' the exercise part of your healthy lifestyles! SO THERE!

    ((Big Hugs))

I didn't end up swimming, since I felt up to running and knew I wouldn't if I swam first (it would have been too dark).

My run felt great once I warmed up, however. I considered going longer, but it was then getting pretty dark and I was hungry. Among my thoughts while running were that it's nice I'm getting some new running shirts from the races I've started doing (although I could just buy a t-shirt or two), since I've been wearing a few XL race shirts I got from races back in my late 20s, before I lost weight the first time. Yesterday's was from a race called the Chase Corporate Challenge which is a short distance that a huge number of the people who work in Chicago's downtown do every year. This was a race I was pressured into doing since my then employer had a team, and my friends thought it would be fun, so I was wearing a shirt from a race in 1997. Way to make it look like I haven't been working out in a while! Plus, since it's sponsored by Chase, it has a giant Chase credit card on the back. Some years ago I was on vacation in the British Virgin Islands and pulled on the shirt as a cover up, and was made fun of by some guy on the beach who asked why Americans wore ads for credit cards. Fair question, I guess. Anyway, it was making me think of running the '97 race with (among others) a friend who now lives in the Bay Area, and who decided partway through to run through the White Castle drive in, as a joke. He now is in fabulous shape, so I have to catch up!
