A newbie questions: Why am I barely losing weight?

I am a newbie, 8th day on my fully raw vegan lifestyle, I barely lost any weight, although my nutrition can't be better, I an not really focus on calorie counting but I eat an average of 1000 calories per day, mostly bananas, dates and salads. I take 30 min walks everyday but dont have time to do more.
Any1 know why I am not losing any weight?

Note it takes your body to adjust and cleanse. I think just 1 week is too early to expect results.
Also are you consuming extra salt other than what is naturally available in fruits & veggies? Salt drives water retention and an enemy if you are trying to lose weight.0 -
1,000 calories is dangerously low specially while eating a raw vegan diet. It's a recipe for failure. No one can last long on a raw vegan diet eating that little. Got to get those calories way up, get most of those calories from fruit. Eating too little will negetivly effect loosing weight. 8 days is not very long at all. Up the calories for sure and focus on the other good benefits you are experiencing.
Also not all raw vegan lifestyles are the same and will provide difference results. I personally eat 80/10/10 with my calories at a MINIMUM of 2,500. I've lost over 40lbs that way but even better I have healed a lot of serious health issues.0 -

Actually 1000 is with me eating all day, I literally cant eat more. I am kind of the 80/10/10 I eat raw fruits mostly bananas and dates, and veggies, that's about it.
I am waiting for some health issues of mine to heal...how long before you were healed? Also did your skin get a bit dryer, I am not sure if this is from my new eating habits or for some other reason.0 -
Bananas and dates are a good source of calories and energy so those are great. A lot of people find that it takes a little while for the stomach to be able to fit in all the food required but keep trying to get up the calories. Are you keeping the veggies till dinner time? Fruit for breakfast, fruit for lunch, fruit starter for dinner and then veggies is the best way to get in enough calories and better for digestion. Veggies tend to fill your stomach up and are harder to digest but low in calories and energy so they are best for the evenings.
Are you logging your foods on here or anywhere else? It's key to have a food diary when starting out and specially good to have someone who has been doing this for a long time keep and eye out on it. Simple mistakes are easy to make but can effect positive results pretty majorly.
I didn't find my skin to dry out but it is more sensitive to chemicals that I used to put on it. How much water are you drinking?
Some of my health problems are significantly better but not totally healed since even some raw foods that I still eat don't mix well with it(nightshades mainly and harder to digest veggies). A lot of the other stuff went away after a month. It's different for everybody depending on the issue and past lifestyle habits.0 -
If you have 130+# to lose, are truely eating 1000 cals/day & not losing weight, something isn't right. At 327# when I started MFP I was eating 1850 cals/day, not exercising & dropping 2-3.5#/week. The weight was just falling off at first with little effort other than logging my cals and drinking lots of water. Maybe you're eating way more than you think... I'd start carefully measuring and logging and/or see your doctor.
ETA: your ticker says you lost 3# - is that in the first week & what you consider "nothing" That's a great amount to lose at your size in a week!0 -

Exactly! that's why I am concerned, I actually have a total of 180 pounds to lose, and on other diets just going below 2000 calories gets me to lose weight like crazy, but since I started this lifestyle nothing, the only thing that changed is my dry skin.
To answer your question, I lost 2 pounds before going on this lifestyle, then about half a pound in the first day I was on it and that's it. And I accurately count my calories as well which is weird, especially since they are saying I am not eating enough.
By the way loving your ticker idea0 -
The body will start to hold onto everything if you are not giving it enough. That could be exactly why you were able to loose weight at around 2,000 and now at 1,000 your body just isn't getting enough of what it needs to run properly and so is holding onto everything.
I wouldn't worry about not loosing within such a short amount of time. Things need to adjust a bit. You might want to check out this group for some answers regarding this.

there are several reasons you arent losing weight fast
1) It really is way too soon to tell. Lose weight slowly and healthily. Give it time and you will see results
2) You will probably gain food and water weight at first
3) If you are consuming any sodium it will interfere with the process.. you also need to REALLY stay hydrated! drink tons of water!
4) You really probably need to increase your calorie intake. That can help with weight loss believe it or not. It will give you more energy to do better work outs
5) you may not be exercising enough. turn that 30 minute walk into a run!
6) your food combining could be out of whack and messing with digestion
and danikanoodles seems to know what she's talking about (: listen to her!0 -
Also to consider is where you are in your menstrual cycle. Typically women gain weight during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle (following ovulation) due to fluid retention. Most women ovulate two weeks before the start of their period and experience weight gain, food cravings, and other premenstrual symptoms until menstruation occurs. For this reason, you may not notice any marked weight loss until you menstruate, when hormonal shifts reduce fluid retention.0
