^ Still fighting. Still becoming.

Hey everybody!! I love coming and reading what I missed. Such a great group here. And I see more threadstarters--more to look forward to.

Woke up to dark, rainy skies, but that might change. Either way, my "plan" (and you guys know how well THAT always goes for me...haha), my "plan" is to hit the gym for my leg/lower workout today. Although actually I'm ready for upper body again already. If I can find the time, I might try to squeeze both in. We'll see.

Hope everyone is having a great day. Read ya later!

Hope your plan today works out better than it usually does Sherry!

When I got home from the gym (total body workout) last night I realized I had a small window to mow my lawn between rain showers, so I got out there and mowed. It had rained off and on for 3 days, including while I was at the gym, so I'm not sure how the grass was dry enough to mow, but it was. By the time I finished the wind had picked up & the the clouds were rolling in so I finished just in time. Nice to get that done.

Went out for speed intervals this morning. They had the sprinklers going at the track so I was in the way outside lanes trying to avoid getting sprayed. It's too cool this morning to want to run under a spray of water. Did a half mile warm-up, then 200 yard speed intervals with 400 yard recovery intervals (8 reps), with a final quarter mile cool-down. Took a water break at the halfway point and switched the direction I was running and still finished in under 45 minutes, so I was happy with my time. I ate a banana before I went and that was not sufficient fuel for that particular workout - by 3 miles I was starting to get pretty tired.

    Hey all!

I didn't get time to write yesterday and when I got home in the evening, I was too lazy to turn my computer back on. Also don't have much time now but wanted to at least check in quickly. I'm still following Cassey's June plan and am so sore, especially my obliques, which is definitely a first. But I really like it, I usually do a short cool down and stretch afterwards though and I think I'll add some back exercises, which she doesn't cover enough for my taste. I like my back and it's been getting so much stronger, I want to keep it that way :) I also achieved a fitness goal I set myself a couple of months ago: I got a hula hoop and wanted to be able to, well, keep it up which I couldn't at all. I haven't been working out regularly with it but have been getting better whenever I used it. Yesterday I took my time and was able to keep it moving for about three minutes counter-clockwise :) Now I want to get better obviously and be able to actually do other stuff while I keep it up. And I want to be able to also keep it up clockwise, which is my weaker side.

Hope you have a great day!

Good morning! I am enjoying that feeling of already finishing my planned minimum sweaty exercise for the day, and I hope that all of you will remind me that it really is best to do it first thing! I know that when I "plan" to get it done sometime later it doesn't happen. I am going to try to get back to the rule that helped me lose 30 pounds in the first place -- no shower goes undeserved. I simply refused to shower if I had not had a good sweaty workout or other exercise first. It really worked. Then over the past 3 months or so I have been slipping -- indulging in showers simply to avoid being grubby! Shocking!!

Laura, you are a serious, serious inspiration. wow.

I'm meeting a new trainer in an hour and hope to work back up to the kind of intensity I was doing before becoming department chair (I work in a university music department) and letting work eat up my entire being. This must stop, and I think this new trainer will be a little less chill than the last one, keeping me more accountable. Sometimes it really does take an external motivator... I go to a trainer about once a month or so, but then exercise alone, but it hasn't been working as well for me over the past while.

Hoping to get rid of the few pounds I gained back! Need to get to 115 if possible, but heck, 120 isn't so bad. Only 2 pounds to go to get there!

have a great day -- may all your mowing be between rain showers

Laura - jealous that you're running in weather too cool for sprinklers. It was about 82 degrees at 4am here. 111 during the day. Sprinklers are a highlight for me! ;)

jugar - hope your new trainer is awesome and kicks butt in an awesome way! :)

Well, hubby normally gets home around midnight but it was crazy out there so he didn't get home until 5:30. Since I have to get out running by 5 or it's too hot, my trail run was kaboshed. I'll try to get it in on Thursday. About to head off to swim some laps at the Y. So all is not lost! I'm headed out to PF Changs for dinner with some PTO ladies. Never eaten there before. Any suggestions on what is not super bad for you that I could get there? thanks!

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Jugar you are inspiration being 122!!!!

val...desert heat, whooo...don't think I could do it. Low 80's here and perfect for me.

Went to Nia class and will swim just for stretching before I leave for errands in Wenatchee.

Love listening to all you runners...I only do little sprints because of my back but love that feeling of running my energy out!

    Afternoon all!

Here I am posting at 3:30pm, usually if I don't get on first thing I don't make it here. I've been busy in my flower bed this morning...and I went and got my mulch so I am ready to get that done! So happy. Its just that I let them go quite a bit last summer and was feeling very overwhelmed about it. Now they are looking good. I just need to get out there more often so they don't become the mess they were.

Also got in a 6K run this morning. Boy it was warm too. I know that my hot doesn't compare to what some of you mean when you say its hot. lol My hot is likely your cool. Tonight I'll do some floor exercises, I didn't get to them last night.

Sherry - yep, I figured out how to insert and image, so I added a few dailys. I hope they are ok and not repeats. Did you manage to get upper and lr body workout in?

Laura - glad you managed to get your lawn mowed in between rains! We've been having quite a lot of sun lately so it hasn't been an issue here just yet. Your interval workout sounds awesome. Makes we want to get out and do one, its been quite awhile. I would love to have a track nearby to use.

Ines - hey good job with the hula hoop! I have trouble keeping one of those things up myself, lol. I should get me one and see if I can get better too. Its kind of a nice feeling when you're sore like that from a workout. You know, just to let you know that what your doing is working. Good stuff!

Jugar - I totally agree on the shower thing, it feels so much more deserved when you've been sweating your butt off! lol I usually do my exercise in the morning as well, but I don't work full time so its not a problem for me. If i were...i know things would be different.

Val - sorry that you didn't get our trail run in...hopefully on Thursday! But, a swim is great too, so you did get something in. I have never heard of PF Changs actually, but enjoy it and hopefully there will be something there you can order thats not crazy high in cals!

Marla - enjoy your Nia class and your swim. I hope to be swimming before too long as well, we live not too far from a lake but it needs to warm up some first. lol

    Hi all,

It sounds like everyone is having a great day -- the encouragement and inspiration is wonderful!

I met the new trainer this morning, and we talked through goals, preferences, equipment, time, you name it. She is definitely going to get this particular butt moving more! After going through just about every possible question, she asked me if I had some other clothes with me (we met in my office). I did. She said spinning class starts in 20 minutes - you should come! So after walking 3 miles last night and again this morning, I found myself in spinning class (something I vowed I would never do again after the last attempt). It was hard but great - sometimes it is easy to forget how high intensity can be a real kick. In any case, I sure earned that shower, got home late in the afternoon and finished helping to plant the vegetable garden! I think I can be proud of this day.

    Tomorrow - keep after me...

I feel for you folks in the high heat - it must be wicked, but those early morning hours are very special everywhere.

    g'night all
