I began cycle 1 today and overall was pleased with how I did for my first time. I'm super excited for day 2 on Wednesday! On day one of BBY there are 2 sets of 12 reps for all of the movement categories and intervals are 2-3 minutes depending on the category.
Pulling: 3 Let Me Ins : I felt really good about this. My knees were a bit tired at the end, but form stayed great. Moving on to level 4 next time!
Squatting: 3 Therapy Squats : Same as pulling. I felt good completing both sets.
In-Line Pushing: 7 Half Dive-Bombers with hands elevated knee height : I actually finished these, but it was a huge struggle for me on the 2nd set. I'll be repeating level 7 until I feel ready to move on. I'm hoping that as I move forward with this, I will be able to increase my speed for more of a rest between sets.
Bending: 4 Warriors : Nice core work. Happy to be moving on to level 5.
How is it going for you guys?0 -
I'm a bit behind you... I've just finished the eval days.
Pulling is going to be a challenge because I don't have a door in my apartment besides the one to the hallway (I know...who doesn't have a door...) so I had to skip ahead to 9 (Let me ups). I might start with negatives on a bar if that's too hard.
Squatting feels good but I have no idea what's going on with bending. It seems so easy that I think I am doing it wrong.
In-line Pushing...oh in-line pushing. I did one half dive-bomber. Oh man. My body did not like that. Back to Military Presses!
Perp Pushing feels like gym class. I'm glad there are no "girl pushups" and I can't wait until I can do the non-elevated ones!
I'm having a blast. My cat is confused when I'm sweating under my desk during Let Me Ups but he's pretty sure it a game called "eat anna's ponytail".0 -
Day 1 Yay! I might go up in squats but I'm pretty beat. Maybe I should do a full cycle before I change anything.
Hope it's going well for you guys!0 -
Hooray for a growing group! Please post if you haven't and join in on the fun! :flowerforyou:
Anna: So glad you (and your kitty) are having fun with this! I struggled with the half dive bomber too, but it felt a lot like yoga transition from chaturanga to cobra pose, so I see the potential with it. I'm hoping that after this program I'll be able to do the chaturanga without falling on my stomach. My yoga breathing definitely got me through this day 2, especially with the squats! DO you do any exercises outside of BBY?
Day 2:
Pulling: Level 4 (Let Me Ins 2 sec pause): My legs didn't feel as uncomfortable with this today. Will be moving up to level 5
Squatting: Level 4 (Therapy Squat 2 sec pause): Phew! It's amazing the difference that 2 second pause makes for me. I was able to complete, but it was definitely a struggle. I know the idea is to work to failure, but I think I will repeat this level on Friday.
Perp Pushing: 5 (close grip pushup hip height): Completed fairly easily. Moving on to level 6
Bending: 5 (warrior with 1 sec pause): Completed pretty easily. Will move up to next level on Friday.0 -
Yesterday was Day 3:
Pulling: First of all... gee whiz those 1 armed let me ins kicked my tail! I did 1 set with left arm and 1 set with right arm. I will definitely be repeating that!
In-line Pushing: I kicked the knee height 1/2 dive bomber's tail! Moving on to the next level!
Squatting: Better enough to move on, but I'm going to watch out for my knees on the next level and may stay there for a while if they start bothering me.
Bending: Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy! Moving on!
I really feel like this program will help me to become stronger. I'm so glad I tried it again! Let's keep it up ladies!0 -
Finished my evals, here where I am....
Pulling: 1
Squatting: 3
In-line Pulling: 1
Perp Pulling: 1
Bending: 6
Anything to do with arms/chest (upper body), I have to take it easy, I just had surgery, and having another surgery in July...will be checking with doctor on Tuesday.
The squatting I probably could do better, but my form is bad, I think because the wall is right there, and my depth perception seems to make the wall "closer than it appears"... If that makes any sense.
And the bending, someone said it seemed to easy, and that they thought they were doing it wrong, that is exactly how I feel!!! But I stopped at 6. Going to make sure form is good before moving on.
I don't know how long these cycles take, but I kinda feel like I would want to do more...so I am also going to finish a 30 day squat/lunge challenge I started for June, but I'm going to do it every other day to coincide with my BBY rest days. I just have to finish it.0 -
Yes, please listen to your body on the arm stuff. I wouldn't want you to get injured. Good luck at the Dr's and with your surgery! The bending does seem a bit easy, but I really want to make sure I get the form right for harder progressions later on. I agree that just doing BBY doesn't seem like enough at this point. Great idea doing the squat challenge on rest days. Just be sure to give your body time to recoup as needed.0
