The Girls

Just an idea to start a thread where we can share our latest times on the Girls.

I did Grace last night. I knew I'd done it before and had to go look. Maybe a month into Crossfit I did it with 75 lbs, took 3 minutes.

Did it last night with 115 lbs in 3:40. Could have done Rx for sure and will definitely be doing it next time.

    Karen: 10:27 (5 12)
    Helen : 8:19 (5/17)
    Jackie: 8:23 (6/15)

Grace is one of the few I can actually do. Most of the others I lack at least one of the movements.

I still have to scale everything.

    Isabel - 2:57 with 17.5kg (too light)
Chelsea - 19 minutes - scaled to banded pull ups and dropped knees push ups.
Diane - 7:31 with 55kg deadlift and HSPU from a box.
    Grace - 6:58 with 30kg C&J
Barbara - 44:29 scaled to banded pull ups and dropped knees push ups.
Eva - DNF, we have a 50 min time cap for long WODs
Jackie - 14:05 scaled to ring rows

Awesome thread actually, I just compared my Diane time, as that's the only one I've done more than once. 30 seconds faster and 5kg more weight.

Magic Mike -- nice work, you've inspired me! I'm going to do a girl a week, starting with Grace (she seems the easiest for me). Hmmm, I might have to reword my plan when explaining this to my wife....

Just took a look, I could do Grace, Isabel, Karen, and Nancy. The rest of them I don't have the movements yet. Once I get pull ups a whole bunch more will be available to me RX.

Grace is very straight forward. My advice to you would be to drop the bar after every rep and immediately grab it for the next rep. This creates a tiny bit of rest for you between reps and is an excellent pacing tool.

I did that this last time and after the fact still felt like I could have pushed it a bit harder and will do so when I try it again RX

I just looked up Cindy and we did a 1/4 Cindy last Sunday... so... I am going to write what I did here and maybe you can tell me what you think I would get in 20 min...

    5 min AMRAP
    5 pull ups
    10 push ups
    15 air squats.

    I did 10+6

I don't have a ton of experience with these benchmark WODs as I've been scaling mostly everything since I started. I only JUST started RXing WODs here and there.

I did my first RX Fran last week and came in at 14:58. I had to do all the pull-ups in singles but at least I have something to compare myself to next time I do it!

I also did Nancy a few weeks ago RX'd but it took me a really long time and we don't have a measured 400m run - we just run around the block which is more like 500m. I think I was somewhere in the 25 minute range.

Clearly, I'm slow and I have a lot of work to do, but I have come a long way since I started!

Not sure. You're in great shape so it's just a matter of when (or if) you hit the wall.

If I was you I'd probably go at about 75% of the pace I did the 5 minute version and just see how long I could hold on. If you get to 2-3 minutes left and still have something blow it out.

Great job. The target is now set for next time.

Last time I did it, I had just seen a video where Bob (the trainer from Biggest Loser) did Grace and his coach told him to drop the bar after every rep. The reasoning being this establishes a pace that can be maintained straight through the 30.

I did that last time and found it very much to be the case. Next time I do it it will be RX and I will pushing a bit harder than I did last time.

It might be a bit harder to do with the lighter weights as the bar might bounce around more.

I'm not a big fan of dropping the bar, and try to only do it for the last rep or if I'm working for a 1RM. I need all the work I can get so the lowering phase (at least in my mind) gives me more of a workout than just dropping.

    Did Cindy,

    10 rounds 11 reps.

Not a lot but I suck at push ups so much. It felt like the whole 20 minutes was just push ups. Been trying not to do half reps and it's killing me, but got to get the range of motion right or I won't get better at them.

    15 overhead squats 95#

    RXd in 14:30

I'm a newb but I looked up the Girls workouts and I'm guessing RX means you do it at the weight it tells you to without scaling anything?? Looking at most of these now I feel like I'll never be able to do any of them lol.

Yes, and yes you will :)

Jackie and Annie done this morning.

Jackie previous time 14:05, today 11:55. Saving of 2 minutes and 10 seconds - same scaling.

First time I've done Annie so no comparison.
