Hi everyone! I'm scheduled to get the VSG in early August. I'm on my supervised diet right now (silly insurance) and I'm looking for a good support network. Please add me if you would like a new buddy! :]

Welcome aboard! I for one have been very happy with the 'slowness' of the process. It has given me the chance to 1) fully commit to the process and habits, 2) dry run a lot of the foods (protein powders, high protein options and choices) and 3) get a real head start on the weight loss.
I realize this makes me somewhat of an oddity here, where everyone is looking to speed up the process.
That being said, I hope to also get sleeved in August. It's starting to get closer and I am excited/scared/optimistic.

Hi! My surgeon's office also offers a non-surgical weight loss program with food and such from their store. I did that for 2 weeks prior to surgery, then 2 days of all liquid, then the surgery. I really was happy with that as like rpyle says, it gives you the chance to get used to the eating habits you will need prior to surgery. I needed to lose 20 pounds prior to surgery and I did.
Good look with the process and the surgery. It's an awesome tool and the best thing I have ever done for myself.0 -
Feel free to friend me! I am getting sleeved at the end of July so we are close in schedule. I am finishing up my 3 month supervised diet and have my last appointment next Friday. I didn't like the idea of a 3 month wait, either, but now I'm glad for it. One, there was a lot of paperwork and such that took time to get together. I have also been using this time to practice logging, practice not eating with meals, slowly dropping my calories (I'm at 1500 now), and trying out different protein options. I hope all of this will make me more successful with the sleeve.

Fantastic! Bariatric surgery is no small decision and one you'll have to live with the rest of your life. But WOW!, when you finally make that decision and start on the journey everything begins to slowly change! I had the sleeve done May 5 (6 weeks ago) and I am very happy with my decision. I agree with the others on this page that while the pre-surgery hoops are sometimes hard to jump through and waiting sometimes seems awful, it really gives you the time you need to adjust to the changes you're making. You'll be glad for that time when you've had your surgery and are recovering and starting your new life.
I'm excited for all of you having surgery this summer. It's been a long road for all of us and I truly believe we're getting healthier.
Good luck!0 -

Heather,
I'm pretty new to this blogging and community stuff. How do you 'friend' someone?0 -

Nevermind. I figured it out. Thanks!0 -
Welcome, and good luck. As others have said, the preop diet is actually a good (but hugely annoying) thing.0
