So this week has been a hellish type week. I walked into work Monday morning to be greeted by the words "Are you ready for the disasters?" No "good morning", no "hello", no "how was your weekend?" Just "Are you ready for the disasters?" And the disasters left me exhausted so the ride I was planning didn't happen. I didn't even go out to the barn. Tues and Wed were rained out so no ride, no fun with the pony. Thursday I always work late so it's a never go to the barn day. Today went from blech to worse and I was mentally in no place to get on my horse and transfer my bad juju to him.
So I went out and hugged him while he ate dinner. Then I decided to lunge him since he did diddly squat all week (thank god he's on pasture). He was AMAZING. He was stretching his neck down like I haven't ever seen him do. All his gaits were more forward and flowing and he was using his back with a consistency he hadn't had. He had a beautiful walk to canter transition that was uphill!
Obviously with that greatness he only had to work for 20 minutes. What a pleasure to watch and it erased so much of my tension from the week.

Oh, I'm sorry you had a rough week, too. Hope this one will be better! Maybe the little break did him good--sometimes it is just the thing when you've been working hard.0

Thanks ladies!
It did some good because today in our ride he gave me a real stretchy trot to the right which is his really stiff and hard to do side.
So proud of the progress we are making. Him becoming more supple and stronger, me getting a clue and being able to tell he's doing it.
Ever onward!0
