Ladies: Shapers, Support and Compression Garments

I have a lot of excess skin on my upper arms and thighs. I only wear 3/4 length or long sleeves and carpis, crop or long pants. My one and only skirt is ankle length (thank God that style came back!). Today I have on my skirt. Now understand pantyhose is impossible because of the difference between my size 16 waist and my size 22 thighs. And today for the first time, I am noticing a slapping sound when I walk. Yes, my thighs are making noise. I do believe it's time for some kind of an undergarment but before I go looking for one thought I would ask for suggestions from you all. I already have an above the waist shaper for all that excess tummy skin. I would assume that whatever I get for below the waist will need to be at least capri length. Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Sorry I don't know much about this, however I have heard the word Spanx thrown around quite a bit if that helps.

I keep the slapping and flapping in check with Spanx and Teez-Hers. I can only wear knee-length skirts with support hose. I appreciate your problem with size differences. I wear a medium top (3/4 or full length sleeves), but my "bat wings" require a larger sleeve. I am not complaining, though. I would much rather wear a medium than my former 3XL!

I hate spanx. Flexees work much better for me and feel much more comfortable. Wal Mart carries a lower expensive Flexees line. I use these when wearing slacks and longer dresses to keep the jiggle in place. They say they are long but the fall right below my knees (I'm 5'7" tall)

I like the flexees from walmart too. I sometimes wear the torso one that you I wear your own bra with. It is very light weight and it doesn't seem to creep up to my bustline the way some of the shaping camis do. They're easy to find and relatively inexpensive at around $15-20 (depending on the style). I've tried spanx in the past but I just don't like the feel of them. The flexees are smooth and don't catch on anything.

You can usually get good shapeware at a discounted price at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. You can go on Amazon and search for Vedette brand compression garments - they are diesel and last forever. Much hardier than the stuff you can get at local stores. I bought and wore a Vedette corselette after I had my son last year and really loved it.

Hate SPANX, but if compression is what you're looking for, they definitely deliver! I prefer slightly less restrictive support garments...I like to breathe! Flexees are good. I also recently discovered SOMA has a nice line of shapewear. Also, for under skirts, I sometimes just wear fitted bike shorts.

Thanks everyone! I do wear the Flexes torso from Walmart, guess I didn't see anything for the bottom half so I will look again. Because of the size of my thighs, I've never been able to wear anything that ends above the knees as they tend to roll/creep up. The last thing I want to do it wear something that I have to constantly adjust. But I will go back to Walmart and see if they've got a longer bottom in the Flexes. I was thinking compression, but truthfully, I really just need something to contain the jiggle and keep the clapping sound from happening.

    I appreciate all your input!

Okay, I was a Spanx lover until I tried Vedette. I am now a convert! And the price ? Less than half the cost of Spanx. Just in case you try them, I wear a medium, but I ordered a large after reading the reviews. Glad I did. They are Amazing! I ordered two more of the full compression style.
