Garmin Connect, cycling, running activities, calories, steps

I've been using a fitbit simultaneously with my Garmin Fenix / mio link HRM during cycling and running activities.
The activities began their life in Garmin Connect, then got synced to Strava using tapiriik.
Strava would then sync to MFP and show as activities with appropriate times and calories.
MFP would then sync with fitbit to add the calories there. Any extra calories generated by walking would then get synced back to MFP as an adjustment.
Involved, yes, but it worked.
I am now trying the vivofit instead of the fitbit to try to make things easier and be in one ecosystem. Here's my take so far.
1. Steps from vivofit do not show in MFP.
2. Cycling / running activities in garmin connect do not show as activities in MFP.
3. Garmin connect applies an adjustment to daily calories sort of like fitbit. But the numbers seem to not include cycling.
Has anyone got the steps or activities to show up in MFP directly from garmin connect? I like the vivofit hardware much more than the fitbit (battery life is main reason) but the connectivity to MFP seems way lacking.

Yes my step calories from my Vivofit/connect show up everytime on mfp (takes between 5-30 minutes to transfer)
Yes Garmin add 20% to your basic bmr to cover accidental activity (though I believe they are going to go back to a true bmr eventually).
If your vivofit is synced to your hrm it should show up as an activity - which then should transfer calories to mfp.
There are a few articles here about why they sometimes don't show up. One of the main ones is that garmin get their nose out of joint if fitbit is also connected to mfp.
Vivofit is not perfect, but with time and understanding I think it is a pretty good unit.0
