Ok, I don't know how to do these challenges, but if someone more technical can think of a better way to do it I'd be happy to hear it. Until then, post up here with your five minutes of dancing! Doesn't have to be pure belly dance - it can be twerking for five minutes if you so desire! It's gotta be body moving, whether it's slow or fast. I'm currently at work, but I'll dance later and post about it.

  • Maybe post in Sunday with a breakdown of what we did each day? Less tedious than posting every day of the week

Posting on Sunday with everything for the week would be much better for me.

I'm starting strong! I'll check in on Monday more likely than Sunday due to 12-hour shifts on the weekend.

I'll check in at least one a week with a summary. Last night, I put on my Beats Antique Pandora station and danced around my house while I cleaned. I probably did about a total of 10 - 15 minutes of actual dancing. Also, my quads were almost immobilizingly (don't think that's actually a word...) sore from Sunday's practice, so I tried to do some hip work while holding my ankle to my glute so as to stretch out the quad. It was interesting. Really made me use my abs instead of my legs/knees! I also tried some different locking isolations that I'd never done before and found a cool combo I may use in the future!

Tonight I am helping teach the beginner class and then I'll have troupe practice, so I'll be dancing for about 2 1/2 hours!! Yay! Can't wait to hear what you're all doing. :flowerforyou:

7/14 - Learning new choreography. One hour dance practice.
7/15 - Foot work practice, traveling steps. 15-minutes as a warm up before a run.
7/16 - Dance technique class, lyrical fusion. One hour.
7/17 - Half hour of dance technique practice. Worked on transitions between 8 count sets.
7/18 - Went through new coreography twice. 5-7 minutes total (routine is 3 minutes). This was mostly a rest day due to blisters from walking 12 miles before.
7/19 - Went to Galactic Prom First Annual Space Ball. Danced for hours. Belly dance, Charleston, go-go, hip hop.

Going to a concert tonight, dancing will ensue. So far, so good.

Also, totally gonna count Dance Dance Revolution as dance practice when I get my mats delivered. I actually dance when I play.

This week has been pretty uninspiring. I have done 5 minutes of drills each night.

Tuesday 15 July - practice performance piece twice (approx 6 minutes)
Wednesday 16 July - boogied around the kitchen whilst cooking (approx 10 minutes)
Thursday 17 July - actual troupe practice (approx 10 minutes of dancing)
Friday 18 July - Black Sheep class (approx 30 minutes of dancing, ATS style)
Saturday 19 July - no dancing as was doing Race for Life
Sunday 20 July - no dancing as having a complete rest day.

I missed Saturday, unless I can count being at a belly dance photo shoot, then partying with my troupe!! We were in costume, dammit!! :D
  • 7/14- "Danced" using my stomach to a 10 minute overture (please tell me I'm not the only weirdo that does this)
7/15- Class cancelled, didn't have a back up plan
    7/16- Shimmy drills
7/17- Ran through an old choreo
    7/18- Ditto of 7/17
7/19- Went to a wedding, do shimmies of joy count?
7/20- Rested off the wedding hangover

Not a great first week, but try try again. And btw, DDR totally counts :-) I need to hook mine back up
