I just started using myfitnesspal yesterday and joining this group today. I am 53 and about 100 pounds overweight. My goal was to be fit by 50, but better late than never so they say! I am a single mom and want to make sure that I am healthy and fit so that I can watch my sons grow into their adulthood. Being on vacation this past week, something finally clicked with me, and I have the much needed motivation to step forth on this weight loss journey. Its nice to know you are not alone. I look forward to this group!

I am having a harder time after losing 8 lbs. My goal is 140 and as of last Friday I have 24 lbs more to lose to give me a BMI of 25. It is hard but I will not weigh this week until my monthly period is over.
I think after 50 the weight loss is harder. But we can do it!!!0 -
Hi! Nice to have you in our group! My name is Connie and I'm 58. It definitely gets harder to lose weight as you get older but we are all here trying and succeeding on getting some weight off at least. Feel free to add me as a friend if you want to.0

Hi ladies! I joined MFP a few months back and dropped the input do to plain old confusion and not knowing what I am doing. I have been back for a couple weeks to give it another whirl.
I'm a hot mess and could use your help. I am 52 yrs old and have been working out at the gym over 1 1/2 years. Dropped one pant size (from 10 to 8), in 3-months. After that... nothing. In the past 6-months I actually gained 10 pounds but still maintain the same size 8. My stomach blows up like a balloon.
What's wrong with me??? My diary is open if you would like to friend me. I could surely use some pointers.
Thanks for the ear.0 -
Hello! Welcome to the group! Have you gone through menopause yet? Might be some of your problems. I have sure had a hard time losing since going through it. I guess what helps me the most is logging what I eat every day. I exercise when i can...having problems with plantar fasciitis which is heel pain so I'm not able to walk much right now. I lose slower when I can't walk. Anyway, this is a very supportive group! Happy to have you with us! You can add me as a friend if you want.

I rejoined MFP recently...and I too have noticed weight gain in a place where I never had it before. I had a complete hysterectomy in Dec., but I don't have any menopausal symptoms and I'm not on hrt. I am happy about that part, but not happy about the weight gain. I'm the largest I have ever been, even right before the birth of my children. I don't have any friends that live by me, I would love to have a walking buddy, but I am doing to join the gym at my work, starting Aug. 1. I don't mean to be such a downer, I usually start every day on a positive note. Looking for a support group - and I think ya'll will be the best one for me. Have a good day!0
