I tried IF for the first time yesterday. I fasted from 5.pm to 9am today morning. Drank loads of water and had a cup of tea.

I did dream of food :P but i stayed strong. I plan to do two days of IF every week to get used to the process.

Jiagetsfit - How'd you like IF? Or need to try it more before deciding?

I'm helping my fiance move into the new house today. So hopefully will be carrying things and walking around a lot. Will track food on my phone and check this board on there too as I did not bring my computer with me. (Trying to stay off the electronics more).

    Good luck to everyone today!

I did like the concept because i end up consuming extra calories during dinner. So with IF, i can practise control and the chances of giving in is less. I will definitely try it more times....to make sure i'm not malfunctioning in any way..like lack of sleep or acidity.

Good luck with the shifting. I find it the most tedious, back breaking job. Have fun

I love this quote today - as someone who's been married nearly 20 years - it really resonated. Good luck moving in today. Plan something fun to do together at the end of the day.

I need to do my trainer's set of exercises today and Orange Theory tomorrow to keep my weekly goals. Both are totally doable. I'm going to a memorial for my brother who passed away about 30 years ago. food + emotional setting could be tricky to navigate. My strategy is not to drink any alcohol but keep a glass of water in my hands instead.

It's Saturday! For me, the weekends are difficult because this when I get together with friends and family for parties or just to hang out, and don't always make the best food decisions. Today I'm taking the kids to a birthday party, where I am most certain that there will be lots of hamburgers, hot dogs, sodas, cake, ice cream, and beer. Although everything will be oh so tempting, I am going to eat a healthy meal before I go to the party, and make sure I drink only water. I know if I plan before I go that I can and will be successful. Good luck everyone!

It's the weekend! I started my pre-op diet today so I'm definitely hungry. My surgeon has me at 800cals and it's pretty difficult for me. My friends like to eat and a lot of the stuff we do is centered around food. Going strong today but I'm so hungry!

Intermittent Fasting.....you fast for 12 to 16 hrs a day to engage the fat burning mechanism. You basically eat 2 meals and skip one. So you tend to remain under your net calories for the day. And in my case.....no snacking.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!! Beautiful weather here in NW Indiana!

Well, this morning I went for my planned run! It was nice and cool and it felt invigorating. I did two 10 min fast runs with 5 min walking in between. I was quite impressed with my 1st run at an average of 12:49 min/mi. 2nd one was a little slower at 14:33 min/mi.

I also did some measurements of my waist and hips today and I'm excited to say since June 29 I've lost 1.2 inch in my waist and 1 inch in my hips!

For breakfast I had a cliff bar, lunch was a black bean burger with avocado, a slice of pepper jack cheese and a thin sandwich bun. For dinner I brought a frozen meal to work and some popcorn for a snack. I think I have various pieces of fruit to eat as well. Tonight and tomorrow evening and I'm off work for a relaxing staycation till next Monday.

One day next week I'm going to the Dunes and doing the 3 dune challenge http://www.indianadunes.com/3dc/
Maybe I'll reward myself with a tee shirt.

I was not a warrior today, I started off eating a big breakfast of pancakes and bacon. Intermittent fasting is very good to me, I think those who try it will see that you can eat larger portions because you have delayed your meals, and it's hard to go over your calories because by the time your done eating it should be bed time. Tomorrow Is a new day and the hubs will be back at work, so no more temptation from him wanting to eat out for dinner. Keep it up ladies, y'all are doing good!

Great job on posting everyone! Sorry for not being around.

Today I Ate well. Dinner had a bit more than I should with drinks in terms of calories but I vacuumed and moved a round more than I have before. Tomorrow I may not weigh in since fiance's brother and sister in law are here. Think the day was ok. Not awesome but good. See everyone Sunday!

Happy Sunday! Today I am going kayaking before sitting down and doing my homework the rest of the day. I spoiled my day one liquid diet unfortunately, telling myself my anniversary is in 2 days and we're going out to eat anyways, but today is a new day! Everyone have a great day!

I'm new to the group! Hello! I'm Shan :) I'm a 30 year old, single mom. This weekend was my first weekend getting back on track so to say it was rough would be an understatement! I held strong though I did a better job a controlling my eating, as well as, thinking about what I was putting in my mouth. I even made it through a work breakfast meeting at one of my favorite diners!!! I was secretly drooling over my coworker's French toast with loads if butter and whip cream. Something about my grilled chicken pita and soup just didn't compare. However, I felt so accomplished that I made a good choice!!! I begin my career in August as a school (guidance) counselor and I'm just know realizing the stress of being a grad student then an intern then unemployed then employed at a job in which my monthly salary was only $200 over my rent (Ugh! )has caused my body and diet to go down hill!!! I'm determined to but size 12 or smaller work clothes in August! I've got a great schedule and plan. I know I can do it!!!

Welcome Shan. Sounds like you are off to a great start - just being aware of what you're eating/thinking is so helpful. I look forward to hearing your weekly goals which support your schedule and plan. You sure can do it!! :flowerforyou:

    Rachel - Kayaking sounds awesome.

    Shan- Welcome to the group!!!

Today, right after posting, I got called in to work. Ate way too much from a gas station on the way there too. I managed to get off at noon vs working a whole 12 hours but so burnt right now. Was not in the mindset for work at all this morning! Now that I'm off its back to helping my fiance move in. Att least he made me coffee...

Seriously, don't give in even when things are going wrong and make it positive too. That includes me or especially me. We, I am doing this to make my life better so it shouldn't be something we beat ourselves up for or make ourselves dislike. I need to be happy doing my best and make every little good choice count. :)

Ate a good breakfast, but I haven't really eaten a whole lot today. I've been busy cleaning. I'm really down in the dumps right now. My dog, Sparky, was euthanized today and I'm having a hard time dealing with it. I'm so angry, and so sad. There's so much more to the story, but that's all I care to share.

Spending the weekend with my dad definitely messes with my healthy eating. He's 84 and can't keep enough weight on. So when he wants to go to Perkins, we go. He likes their food and eats well there. I did pick a meal that was under 550 calories, but by the third meal of the day, that was just a little bit too much. Today, he let me sleep until 10:00, which I specifically didn't want to do, but he worries I don't get enough sleep, while I worry he doesn't eat enough food! LOL So it was off to Wendy's for lunch... nothing good comes of that when you're really hungry.

Somehow, I did manage to end the day under my calorie limit, though, so I'm very happy. Getting better with my water intake. Now I've got to work on daily exercise!

Hi Lisa, We had to put our Golden Retriever down on Monday as well, it was a very quick for him, We're still very upset. People who don't have pets don't understand just how big a part of our lives they hold. In the end it's a very hard decision to make, but also the most brave and compassionate. Sending positive thoughts and good vibes your way!

Kayaking went great! Got to introduce a new friend to the sport, we ended up paddling 4 miles on flat water. Endomondo had me at over 1200 calories burned but that seems a little generous to me :) Anyways, was doing okay UNTIL we went to Biggby and those fancy drinks get me every time. I'm pretty sure I ordered the worst drink for me on the whole menu.

Shan - Welcome to the group! :)

13 - It was a lot of fun, I look forward to it every week. It's nice when your SO greets you with coffee, definitely a keeper. Are you a nurse? My mom is an OR nurse and she gets called in at weird times as well.

Queen - Sounds like a success to me! I'm also struggling in getting my water in. The only way I've been able to thus far is with propel and lifewaters, like I'm tricking my mind into thinking it's a diet pop or something haha

I started off my day with YOGA, just a 20 min morning DVD I like to do. Then I ate a cliff bar and went for my run. It seems like I always do worse when I run 2 days in a row. It still felt good to get it done... I jogged 2:34 mi in 43 mins (well I walked the 1st 5 min). I had a yogurt when I got home then jumped in the shower. Lunch was a veggie burger and a pickle. Then I was off to work.

Works been busy and I just hit 10,000 steps on my fitbit. My fitbit vibrated and I thought I should check in with the group.

They had nachos in the cafeteria so I had to get some... they're so good. Of course I still ate my frozen meal and I'm working on my water. I had a peach and blueberries and some boom chicka pop popcorn for my snacks. Can't wait to go home. Tomorrow's my birthday and I'm off for the week. I'm just looking forward to some relaxing!!

Rachel, how do you like endomondo? I downloaded the app but never used it.

Rachel- I'm a plant engineer. We get called in whenever there's issues onsite but generally we rotate on call weekends except when big problems occur...

Today was not the greatest. Breakfast and dinner were high calorie junk food. Lunch I did well. We moved lots of heavy items today and found (and fed) a barn cat. He's not going to be tamed but we figure we can make him friendlier...

Kashaas- Have a good birthday tomorrow.

Queen- Sometimes sleeping in is good. :)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Try your best to stay positive and push through those negative thoughts. Remember all the great time you shared with Sparky.

queen - it's nice of you to put your dad first like that. Good job not using that as an excuse when making meal choices.

This weekend was pretty good. I spent about 5 hours doing work in a cafe on Saturday. Had bagels and lox and lots of coffee with skim milk. Then a friend called, so we went out for ramen and popsicles (omg green tea popsicle with mochi is amazing!). Still managed to stay around 1300 (200 calories under normal to help make up for drinks and burrito and 400 extra on Friday night). Then today, I went to yoga and planned on doing a workout video afterward, but didn't feel like it after cleaning the kitchen. Had a picnic in the park and ate a lot of cheese, hummus, and bread, so I skipped on the dessert I had planned on having, so I'm still on track. Not the BEST weekend, but not the worst.

kashaas, I like it! I think it overshoots my calories a bit, but the GPS is really accurate and it's very detailed.
