Self-Diagnosed Plantar Fisciitis

Well, I thought I had this (plantar fisciitis). I scoured the web, and my symptoms matched almost perfectly. So odd that the pain is in the center of one of my heels. Well, I must admit that I have been running more lately. I'm in my 40's, which also matches the online diagnosis. I had a scar though, and thought maybe I had a splinter. But I didn't see one. The pain was definitely there, though. very sharp and very real.

After a few weeks I eventually discovered that I had a 3/4 inch screw sticking up through the sole of my shoe! It protruded only about 1/8 inch on the inside. Mystery solved! :ohwell:

Hey lilibean! Just a few weeks, and I only wore the shoes occasionally. Crazy, huh? I thought it was interesting so I posted it in the runner's forum.

That sounds horrible but resolved much faster than plantar fasciitis.

I've been having trouble with PF for over a month now. I just went to my front door closet and inspected my shoes.
No such luck for me LOL

I'm glad you found the source of your problem, because PF is no fun!!!

I watched a NOVA documentary about 12 people who went from living sedentary lives to training for Boston. The one woman had to walk from the bottom of Heartbreak Hill to the finish because of "stabbing foot pain" which was later revealed to be a piece of glass in her shoe.

Omg! That made me laugh. I'm glad you are cured.

I recently had a pinching feeling on my arch and couldn't figure it out. I thought maybe my socks were to blame and went through multiple pairs trying to correct it. It turned out to be a hair band that somehow got under the insole. It wasn't painful, but just annoying. It took me about 4 runs to figure it out.
