Valma that's a great way to approach binges - and way more effective than "Well I've messed up anyway I might as well keep going."
I've taken off 3 pounds since Monday morning. Even though it's water weight it's nice to see forward progress. Monday night and last night I told myself out loud "You need to stop eating now" and that's been working for me.
I was pretty down Monday & yesterday about my foot but I woke up this morning feeling more positive again. I have trained myself to run when I'm frustrated -- so what do I do when I'm frustrated about not being able to run? Right. But my foot hurt again when I got up this morning (it's always the worst in the mornings) and that's a reminder that while I don't love the rest break I clearly need it. And it's not like there aren't other things I can do. Will get my sweat on tonight on the elliptical or bike before my trainer session.0 -
Valma, I do like your thought. Yes, I can start my day over whenever I want.
Laura, glad to see you are feeling more like yourself and you woke up on the right side of the bed. And it’s great news about the scale. It really does help to see progress
So on Monday night I figured out what I was going to eat yesterday. It was actually great! Working backwards I was able to see what would work and not. It also took the stress off—can I eat this? Or not?—and I didn’t fear that I would run out of calories.
Tues Goals report:
1) Eat within cals +/- 150. NOPE. I was over by 185. Not terrible but I can do better. I underestimated the cals in TJ’s sugar-free chocolate almonds (not planned in advance). Womp womp.
2) Have a cooked veggie PLUS salad and/or soup with dinner. CHECK! We had grilled chicken and asparagus and I had a green salad too.
3) Appetizers! As soon as I walk in the door from work (Danger Will Robinson! Danger!), put out plate of veggies and hummus. CHECK! I had some hummus and celery sticks. And I sat down and ate the soup during appetizer time. <--- THIS MAY BE MY NEW FAVORITE THING.
4) Log in dinner FIRST so I can work backwards from there. CHECK! Even though I forgot my lunch and had to make some substitutions, I felt a lot more comfortable.0 -
I'm definitely up in weight. Spending many days stuck in a car, driving and eating, isn't very good for proper eating.
Back now and ready to get back to normal. I have my trainer workout tonight and I plan to run to and from it.0 -
Welcome back Donna! Your schedule was definitely abnormal but you're so disciplined I don't think you'll have any issues getting back on track with your normal habits. I want to hear more about your trip!
April great job yesterday!0 -
It's raining here today but I managed a early morning walk without rain, brought a hat!
Tonight will be the challenge, outdoor play, Fiddler on the Roof, my fav play....either rain or showers predicted with some thunder thrown in.
I don't know what to say about food. It's been a bad year for me, dealing with emotional eating. I have hope though I will deal with my inner demons and come out on top!
I refuse to get mad at myself for gaining, I am not making excuses just trying to love myself.0 -
Hi. Making this quick because I'm not myself today (tummy issues and getting worked-up about traveling again).
I did a quick and lazy lower body workout at the gym today, mainly because my stomach was very upset.
I may not report in for awhile due to travel. We have some packing tomorrow (gathering our stuff), then a long drive Friday, then more packing over the weekend to try to make everything fit, then flying Monday and then only home for a couple days before a long boat ride and staying at a place without even a phone, but hopefully I'll use cellphone or iPad at a cafe from time to time. I'm starting to freak out at how fast it'll all be happening. Hoping I can keep it together and that my kids will be extra sweet through it all.
Meanwhile, I feel like my size doesn't look too bad, but I'll see what my home scale says next week.0 -

^this makes me feel happy! great approach and good reminder to me0 -
Jess - Well done at getting a workout in that late! I always have the best intentions but almost never am able to get a workout in that late.
Laura - I'll have to try saying that out loud the next time I'm tempted to snack!
Marla - Some days are rough...and some years are rough. I had plans for really pushing myself this year and have had one issue after another that had really gotten me down. I finally managed to adjust my point of view enough where I'm comfortable with myself again. Hang in there and it will get better!
From here on out - We'll miss you, but have happy and peaceful travels!
Had a VERY good day today. For the first time in ages I managed to avoid snacking. I got a workout in as well. I rode the indoor bike, and held my hands behind my back to help with the pain. My hand is still not doing well, even with being in a brace for a week, so tomorrow I will most likely schedule and appointment to have it checked out. *sigh*
Goals tomorrow:
Stay in my calorie goal. Before vacation I had a good schedule for eating. I'm slowly getting back into it.
I plan to do a small "brick" (combining two of the three sports in triathlon for a practice) and bike on the indoor bike and then run on the treadmill.
Get to bed before 11! I can't get up early if I stay up late. So I need to get my bedtime back on track.
Have a great day tomorrow!0 -
I was able to get in eighty minutes of riding the stationary bike at a decent hour. And then right before bed I did some abs. I don't know if it is my imagination or not, but I think I am seeing some differences in my stomach area even though I haven't been doing abs very long. That's exciting!0
