Rest day today, so I did get to hit the snooze button. The one about fighting cravings is appropriate though because my rest days are when I struggle the most with my eating.

    Have a great Friday everyone!

I hit the snooze button today too ... but that's not gonna stop me. I'm leaving work early to get some exercise in later! Woot!

Thursday was a bit of a mixed bag but lessons learned.

Yesterday I set my goal to go on three walks during the day. Two were short (>10 mins) but one was 35 minutes or so with a pal. Not only did I go over my step goal, I felt terrific! It’s so nice to get outside and away from my monitor. I’m going to try and do the same today. I’ve already got one walk down :)

    Thurs Goals report:
    1) Eat within cals +/- 150. Nope. I was hungry after dinner and just kept eating and eating. I got some good advice and also realized (this am, sadly) I could have had a protein shake for just 150 cals. Today is a new day!
    2) Have a cooked veggie PLUS salad and/or soup with dinner. Nope. I had soup and salad but no cooked veggie with dinner.
    3) Appetizers! As soon as I walk in the door from work (Danger Will Robinson! Danger!), put out plate of veggies and hummus. Check! I put out carrots and hummus and had my veggie soup as an appetizer too.
    4) Log in dinner FIRST so I can work backwards from there. Check! I underestimated how hungry I was going to be. I waited an hour after dinner to see if my hunger would go away (sometimes it does) but it didn’t. I made unhealthy choices and it didn’t feel good.

Yesterday was my rest day. I felt a little guilty having a rest day just one day after my vacation, but I just didn't get a chance to do much until late. At that point it was already well after my bedtime ... so rest day. I did eat good food and below my calories limit, so it wasn't a complete failure.

Going to do a run this evening, a run and fitness class Saturday morning, and looking forward to more exercise on Sunday. Maybe even get my bike out?

Enjoy the rest day, Laura, good luck to the rest of you with getting done what you want done!

Yesterday was basically my rest day since I only did half a workout before calling it quits. Does make me feel more rested and energized today though. I definitely can relate to the cravings line from the motivational poster. I feel hungry all the time because I am a boredom eater, but I really do crave results more and that is what made me workout at all yesterday even though I didn't want to, I just wanted to eat chocolate instead. But I didn't :)

Slowly getting back on track. Yesterday was difficult. Didn't check in with you folks as I got a killer migraine. It's one of the bummers to having a lax vacation. An old head injury has given me a propensity for migraines...so when. I change my diet and reduce calories (like after splurging for a week) I get a couple migraines. One down..I will probably get another soon. But each day I get a little closer to being back in my routine.

Downside to today...didn't eat the greatest (taquitos and chocolate chip cookies were consumed at one point). Upside? I didn't eat a ton...only two cookies! And I still stayed in my calorie limit. also got in a good brick workout today on the indoor bike and treadmill. My hand still is hurting me...so gonna have to schedule an appointment and have it looked at. :(. Hoping they can figure out what's wrong for certain and get it taken care of!

Laura - I feel your frustration! Thankfully my injury isn't my foot...but I can't hold the handlebars of my road bike, no upper body weight lifting as I can't grip things...and no swimming. Oh, and Pilates is out as many of the positions have me putting weight on my hand that I can't do right now. :( So out of my usually six options for working out, I'm down to two. Grrrrrr. Well, just a chance to get creative huh? ;)

April - You're doing fantastic! We all have set backs and days we could have done better. But since it's a lifestyle change, we can just pick up the pieces. learn from our mistakes and move on. Keep focusing on all you've accomplished. because from what I've seen...your doing wonderfully!

Maureli - I'm blaming my eating struggles on the TOM as well. I do notice a drain in energy and a sudden desire to snack. Not really a scientific study but it always is more difficult for me during that one mysterious week every month. Hopefully I'll be done soon and have a few weeks to recover.

Jess - I love to do cardio to intense action movies and shows. I run faster and push myself harder when people are running and fleeing for their lives. ;)

It was record heat here in Phoenix...about 115 heat index or maybe higher. So even running in the morning was unbearable (and I hate the treadmill). But it rained tonight and the temp has dropped significantly. Hoping to get a quick runnin tomorrow morning! ;). I'm off to bed to get some zzzzzzs before that happens.

    Love the quote today!

I am planning to run a 10K race on Sunday (unless I chicken out) so today I just did a real easy 5K. Tomorrow will be a rest day, then Sunday the race. Dh is doing the full marathon. So, when I'm done I will coach him on. Lol I haven't done anything like this since last summer. Always get nervous and hesitant, but I know I can do it.

Laura - hope that foot is better soon and enjoy your rest day!

Aprilfoodbrid - Great job with the cals and the steps! you are in the zone... :) When you are feeling so good after a workout you know you are doing it right!

Jess1jane - welcome, I don't think I've said that yet! I find when I do my indoor workouts (TM or biking) watching tv is a big help. Just makes the time pass so much faster.

Sherry - nice change-up with the basketball and badminton.

Flacachica - welcome to you too! good plan to get your exercise in after work

Btsinmd - hope your run tonight is a good one, and that you might get that bike out

Marla - nothing to perk you up like a hair cut! I just got mine done yesterday. Can't wait to see the new pic!

Valmaebel - glad that youre getting back on track, its a long road but once you're there for awhile it seems to get easier. Just need to stay on! Lol Too bad about the migraines, I get them occasionally but not too bad.
