Should I take whey protein and which one?

Hello, I have a huge doubt.
I'm 21 yro girl, 5 feet 99 pounds. I don't have much to lose, I'd like to mantain while toning and gaining muscle. Cardio: 10-15 min, I lift (60-90lbs, 3 sets of 10-12 reps). I don't know if I should take whey protein and which one, which part of the day to take them, pros and cons, etc. I'm kind of newbie, need some advice!

PS: when I was 12-15 I was a little chubby, I started to try to get in shape at 17-18. It has been difficult for me to be in my actual shape, so i'm not considering a fat gainer or something mixed with carbs or another stuff.

    Yes! If you want to tone /gain muscle. If you are not getting an adequate amount in food, it can be a good aid. After work out is a good time, I would aim for .8/1 gram per pound of weight
