Looking for ideas

I just started with the atkins approach and not really trying to immerse myself in it. I am trying to get some ideas for meals that contain a little more protein and fiber? So seeing what else can be intertwined in this approach...? I have to say I really like the shakes and snack bars so far as intermediaries.

Recommend that you read any of the Atkins Diet books, in particular I recommend "New Atkins for a New You." This way you can get all the details of the Atkins approach. HTH0

Definitely a good place to start, appreciate the feedback. Also new to this program, but I love the results already. But still learning how to navigate to the different resources.0

1. I would work first on eating regular foods and only going to the shakes and bars as fill-ins or emergencies. Those can stall SOME people's weight loss.
2. There are tons of options for protein: eggs, chicken, beef, turkey, pork...etc, etc. Don't be afraid of the "fattier" meats as fat is going to be your main source of energy when you eat low carb. Fiber you will get from leafy greens and the veggies allowed. Protein was the basis for most of my meals, then add things like cheese, sour cream, butter, etc to add more fat.
I make taco salads alot (lettuce, beef, cheese, sour cream, etc...any standard taco topping but don't go over board on tomatos), bacon wrapped chicken, egg scrambles with whatever I have in the house (spinach, mushrooms, cheese) for breakfast or any meal, and then I ate alot of grilled chicken with sides of roasted or steamed veggies.0 -
I have tried a good handful of this and a good handful of that. And quite honestly had some reservations about atkins. But since I decided to give it a try, have been plenty pleased with the influx of protein that it's giving me so far. I feel it was definitely something that my body was lacking in for the well being of my kidneys and pancreas, because now I feel in a more comfortable state of cleansing. I know I have a ways to go, but just being down to 192 is something I haven't seen in 10+ years. Just getting below 195 has seemed like a lifelong struggle. By the way Mel, I love those suggestions. I am a big fan of them, and looking forward to getting back in the kitchen and enjoying myself.0

I get bunch of spinach and cut it up small stalks and all. I do the same with mushrooms. Put the in a plastic bag, scrunch it up to get most of the air out and keep handy in your fridge. Whenever you are having a protein cooked with olive oil flash fry a couple of handfuls in the oil and juices from the protein and eat with the protein. Delish and quick way of getting fibre. Also keep some flax seed handy and use to make crackers (40 secs in microwave) and eat with cheese. Google flax crackers and you will get more than enough. I do find that proteins are the hardest to amount in the macros to get up to speed...a basic protein shake with a quarter of an avocado in the mix gets the protein and fibre counts up as well a a good dose of fat.0
