Hey everyone, welcome to the group. I hope we all find the encouragement we need along with some fun stories, tips, recipes along this journey of dropping 20 by Christmas. I'm a almost 48 year old mom of 2 great kids, actually young adults and after a wake up call from my doctor I decided its time to drop some weight. I am all about setting goals of 5 pounds at a time, its the success in the small goals that keeps me going. How abut you, how do you stay motivated?

Hi
I'm 26, no kids, and living in the state of Texas where everything is bigger including myself. I'm currently at my highest weight. I used MFP a couple years ago and successfully lost 30 lbs and i'm hoping to have the same success this time! Support really makes a world of difference. Anyone is welcome to add me! I love getting advice and trying to help others.0 -
Hello my name is Lana! I am 46 yrs old. I have a great husband of 26 yrs and two grown sons (22 and 20). I have two furry babies Marley (Shih Tzu) 5 yrs old. and Mila (Samoyed) almost 2 yrs old.
2010 i was at my highest uncomfortable weight 196. My biggest downfall is WINE WINE WINE!!! So I set a goal to run the Chicago Half marathon I logged all of my food in MFP and drank occasionally and I lost 40 lbs. Ran the Half Marathon in 2011. Since then I've managed to put back on 20 lbs. So now I am 10 lbs from being at my heaviest again!! Boooooooo!!!!!
I love love love exercising, I still run and I even do a Boot Camp 3 times a week. I just need to get back focused with logging my food and cutting down with the wine!
Welcome everyone!0 -
Hello everyone,
I just turned 26 and I am married and have one child. She is almost two and a half. I have one puppy that is eight weeks old, and also have a three year old cat. My husband and I have been been together for three years and we are both active duty military and we have very busy schedules but still manage to find time for family, friends, and working out. (don't ask how we do it because sometimes I am in still in shock about how it happens). I have been up and down a lot this year on my weight and I am resuming my hard work after a month off with moving across the country and getting settled in a new state. Please feel free to add me. I try to log every single day but there are times where work literally will get in the way (deployment and work ups). I look forward to getting to my goal with everyone!0 -
Hey everyone!
Im 32, married to a wonderful guy for 11 years. We have an 8 year old daughter. I started becoming active on MFP a month ago, when I was at my heaviest. Ive lost 6 lbs so far, so I am at the beginning of my journey to getting fit and healthy. My husband is also working towards getting into better shape. I had mentioned this group/challenge and he thought it was a great idea. He rounded up some co-workers and they are doing the most weight lost by Christmas, for a cash prize. We will be keeping each other motivated.
I also have a mini-goal rewards system for myself at every 5lbs lost. I log in everyday so feel free to add me. Good luck to everyone!0 -
Hi, I'm Amy. I am 40 years old and single. In 2012 I lost the weight and hit my weight goal but in 2013-now I gained it all back. So I am starting my journey over again. I suffer from very bad anxeity and i have depression so motivation to do things isn't always there. I'm hoping have a group to check in on will give me some energy to stick with it. Good luck to all of us, I'm sure we can do this together.0

Hi yall! I am 34 years old, married to a wonderful supportive husband, and we have a 10 year old daughter and a 9 month old son. I live right outside of Charlotte, NC. I am a stay at home wife/mom, homeschool teacher, and finishing up an accounting degree. I started MFP in June and I have lost 12 lbs so far. After the birth of our son I gained quite a bit of weight. I decided enough was enough. I hid from family photos and stopped buying clothes. I have about 40 or so lbs to lose to be where I want to be. I enjoy adding new friends and reading posts. I sign on daily to stay motivated.0

Hello.
I'm Erin. 37 years old, married for almost 12 years, and mother to 2 amazing kids (8 and 5). I'm a technical writer by trade and live in Green Bay, WI. I've been on the weight loss thing pretty much my entire life. Was at 159 when I got married (lowest ever as an adult) in 2002. Got up to about 197 by 2005 (ahh...the comfort of married life), broke my leg in January 2005, got PG in Sept 2005, had my son in 2006. This all put me up to about 212 (post PG). Got PG with my daughter in 2008 and had her in March 2009. Put me up to where I am now at about 225. Joined MFP 3 years ago to lose weight for a trip to Cancun. Got down to about 197, but since then I've been gaining it all back. Got into running but haven't lost any weight from that.
So....after all of this, I need something to kick me in the butt! Hopefully I can get this 20 lbs off by Christmas then keep going to get down to about 175. I know the older I get the harder it is...and I'm definately seeing that!!
Oh I'm also allergic to yeast, so no bread (except pizza...I refuse to give that up!!). Tortillas and buttermilk biscuits are it for me!
I'm very active here on MFP, but occasionally need a pick me up! Hopefully we can all keep each other going and see success this holiday season!0 -
Happy Friday! Remember to go check out the weigh in post. Start today and weigh either weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, whatever works for you! I am thrilled its Friday, was up with hubby when he left at 5:30, put on my running shoes and hit the pavement. Really glad I got it in this morning, looks like more rain is coming our way!0

Hi there,
I'm Annie, mom to 7 awesome kids. I'm a weekend nurse-working on my RN and I homeschool through the week.
I started MFP in March and have lost 30lbs. I'm half way to my ultimate goal! I thought this challenge would be an excellent way to stay motivated0 -
Hi my name is Chantel I am from Michigan. I am married to a supportive man and have 2 sweet young girls. I am 5'1 and my current weight is 162.8.
I lost both of my parents to health issues that where diet related. I know my girls are afraid I will die young also and I want to take that fear away from them.
I am also really wanting to help others to make it to the goal they have set. I am the kind of person that will stick with you throu thick and thin, no puns intended.
Best wishes to you all.
Heres to having better health and as a result, new smaller clothes for Christmas.:drinker:0 -
Hi! I'm Becca. I'm 41 but will be 42 by the time we finish this challenge. I'm a mama to 4 and a part time attorney -- part time - so that I can be home when my kids are home. Their ages range from 6 - 12 and we feel its important that their mama is around. So let's see.... I weighed 147 when I got married, then gained married lady weight and baby weight. After my first baby I took the weight back off and was down to 153 when I got pregnant with #2. I lost some, but not all of the weight I gained with her, and none of the weight from #3 and #4. I weight 207 in 2012 when I first found MFP and lost 17 or so pounds before giving up on myself. I gained back some, but not all of that weight and hung out just under 200. Then in October my dad died -- he was 63 and died resulting from a stroke. He had also had a heart attack at 46. Pretty scary stuff given that I'm 41. So now I'm back at MFP making changes not because I want to look better, but because I want to live longer. This change in motivation is really making all the difference in the world and this time I'm determined because my kids need me. "Be healthy, live longer" that's my new goal. So glad to join this challenge with all of you!
@kayjosh -- you asked about motivation. The above story pretty much sums it up for me and truly, I'd not keep coming back when the going gets rough but for that. Glad you got in a good run today. I walked on my treadmill, so very glad I have that done for the day, too.
@dbanks -- runners impress the heck out of me! I despise running. But I love wine. Mmmmmm, wine.
@lishaalexis -- thank you and your hubby for your service. I'm sure that moving cross country is a herculean task! Where are you based now?
@wailana -- what kind of mini-rewards do you give yourself? Every time I try to think of some they all wind up being food related. **eyeroll** obviously that's less than ideal. What works for you?
@AmyBecky -- good for you for stopping the gain in its tracks! I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with anxiety and depression. My husband has both, both I have a pretty good idea of how crippling it can be. Reach out if you need a little help, ok?
@mariann -- how exciting! congratulations to you! Looking forward to skinnyyou!
@jsherill -- holy busy mama! Nothing easy about taking on homeschooling and school for yourself. I look forward to seeing family photos where you don't have to hide.
@Erin -- Hey! I'm a Wisconsin girl now living in Pennsylvania. I grew up in West Bend, just north of Milwaukee. Sounds like you are giving yourself a solid kick in the butt, but if you need another kick now and then, you are in the right place!
@ambree -- I'll bet that your house is a blast! How old are your kids? Do you find homeschooling across so many ages challenging? Congrats on your loss so far -- 30 pound is ah-mazing!
@tuckeychicken -- Chantel, I'm am so sad to read that you lost both of your parents. My heart breaks for you. I'm so glad that you are making positive changes in your life as a result though... the cycle changes with us, right?0 -
Hi! I am Nancy, almost 45 - one week til my birthday! I am married, and a mom of 2. My daughter is 13 and my son is 9. I have been up and down with weight my whole life. I joined MFP in Jan., 2011, and lost 38 lbs., then regained 30, and am now at about 14 lbs. lost again. I had a hysterectomy last Sept, and find it takes much longer for me to lose weight now, which is frustrating, plus it's much easier to gain. My motivation is wanting to set a good example for my kids, so they hopefully won't have weight struggles as they grow, and also to avoid the weight-related issues I see my own mom struggling with. Oh, I live in PA and am an elementary school reading specialist.0

Hi,
I've just been using MFP for a week and this seems like a great idea to keep each other motivated. I live in Scotland, UK and am taking this journey one step at a time. I've never been happy with my weight for as long as I can remember and would eventually like to lose 70lbs but am conscious that this will take time. I've always been quite active but stepping up the exercise and learning more about diet each day from research (so much good info on here!).
My motivation is being happier and healthier in my own skin and therefore feeling less self conscious.
I would be happy to be friends with anyone - I hope I could motivate and would appreciate the motivation0 -

What's everyone's plan for this weekend? We might have an inside weekend,, looks like it will be rainfilled. I have painting to do in the dining room and tonight I am making steamed crab for the family. I bought a food scale off of amazon and I am thrilled with it. It's amazing how much of a difference it makes. What I thought was a serving really was not! Looking forward to using it more to keep on track0

Hi! I'm Laura. Im married and have 2 children a 7 year old and a newborn. I lost almost 30 lbs before finding out I was having my daughter, gained 23 lbs, and lost all of it in 3-4 weeks. I lose milk quickly and I work in a sedentary job so my weight loss now has been slow. Dr gave me the ok to get back to exercising so here I am. I think this is the perfect way to keep me motivated and I already have my size 6 bathing suit hanging on my wall for inspiration0

I'm Amanda I am 37 and a mother of 4. The oldest (my stepdaughter is 21) my two daughters are 18 and 14 and I have a 3 year old son (he was a surprise). After a couple of major traumatic injuries I packed on almost 80 pounds and have now been cleared to get back to the active life I once had. I'm more focused on getting back into doing 10K's and hopefully a half marathon next summer than I am a specific weight loss number. I've been doing MFP for the past 3 weeks, in that time I have improved my 4 mile time by 5 minutes, and lost 8 pounds.0

Soooo sorry about your dad! My parents are on at least 20 meds for everything diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroids, blod clots, arthitis, everything. And that is a motivator for me to get my weight back in check and exericse because I do not want to take meds. Welcome to you and good luck on this challenge! :drinker:0 -
Uggg, got on the scale this morning and knew I should not have, I am up 1.5 pounds. I think it was all the crab we had this weekend, while the calories are not high the sodium is very high. Even my fingers feel swollen. Anyone know how to flush this out, just lots of water?0

I had a great but busy weekend. Saturday went to a family reunion in WI. and Sunday went river tubing for the first time in Indiana. It was so much fun but my eating and drinking was really bad. Today is the first day of the 90 day challenge. So I hope I can stay focused.0

Hi,
I'm a few days late joining the group - I hope thats ok with everyone!
I'm 28 and from Ireland. I've tried using MFP a few times, but find I am great for a few weeks, and then I fall off the wagon completely. I'm hoping that by being part of the group, I can stick to it this time!0 -
Hi everyone. I am new I think a little late. I am a 20 year old junior in college and I have just kept gaining weight since my high school years. I am now obese but I am over weight for my height. I am 5'1-5'2. I really hope to lose 20 by Christmas.
Please feel free to add me any and all of you. I really need the inspiration.0 -
Hello,
I'm 32, no kids. Joined MFP in 2011 and lost a little over 20 pounds over the course of a year. Was about 7 pounds from my goal weight, but still in a place where I looked thin. Over the past year+ i've gained it all back. Ugh! My issue is exercise and maybe wine. I find that I get on these exercise kicks for awhile and then nothing for months. So i'm hoping to lose this weight and keep it off forever by making exercise a permanent part of my life.0
