Anyone use alltrails.com or the mobile app?

If not, you should check it out! It's a great way to find trails.

Do you have to pay a subscription fee to use it or get the most out of it?

No, not at all. The subscription is basically so you can print out custom maps. Which you can find just about anywhere else. Although sometimes the NatGeo maps are pretty useful.

I use it! I added lots of trails I would like to do and it helps me get out there and do new trails

I've been using it lately . Another good one to use if you have a GPS is mappingsupport.com. You can draw on a topo map the trail you want to hike and down load to GPS . FREE.

Either that or good to calculate the mileage.

I use it, but find that AllTrails has poor information or just plain excludes most trails in my area. The paths are wrong, the trailheads are not where one would expect... it is a good starting point, but definitely one must obtain maps elsewhere before heading out.
