Sherry hope you start feeling better soon!
Jess I do a combination of cardio & strength training. I think they're both important. But you don't have to do all of it all the time - find what works for you.
Jen I listen to audiobooks when I run. I have an audiobook that I only listen to when I run so I'm always anxious to get back to it and find out what happens next. That's a great motivator!
I had a good activity day yesterday - ran 3.1 miles before work, walked 2.26 miles at lunch, did 20 minutes on the elliptical as a warm-up at the gym, then my trainer had me doing arms & legs at my session. Ended up with over 23,000 steps.
Trainer tonight - will be shoulders & abs.
Happy Thursday!0 -
Good Morning
Got a 6am call to work yesterday morning, so decided to take the day off from exercise. My quads were actually pretty sore from the Jillian Michaels workout that I did the day before. I hadn't done one in a few weeks and could I ever tell! So today I will go for a run. Its been awhile since we've seen any sun here, everyday is just drab and the fog comes in and goes out. I need some rays!0 -
Hope you see the sun soon Maureen! It impacts my mood so much when we have many gloomy days in a row.0

I was having trouble with shoulder problems when I lift weights and do the TRX and other exercises. I listened to this you tube video by a P/T:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBPk4ADhg9k
I followed what he said and my shoulder didn't hurt after my workout.
Today I am off to help teach a dance class for adults with developmental disabilities. It's a light cardio workout. I just got done figuring out the choreography for Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys. I watch some You Tubes, then simply it for my students. Last week I taught them a hula song. Other songs we do are YMCA, Chicken Dance, Locomotion, etc.0 -
@Laura, omgosh there should be more people like you on here. Most people shove their opinions down your throat and tell you you're doing it wrong. I love how you support finding the right balance for yourself. Everyone is different, and probably needs and wants different things. That's what I believe, what works for me probably won't work for most people.
@tlicttbh, welcome and have fun with the dance lesson!
So, in my introduction I said one of my personal non-fitness related goals was to watch every episode of Star Trek. Yesterday, I officially watched the last episode of Star Trek that aired on tv. It took my two summers but I have seen every episode from the Original Series through Enterprise. I feel a little sad because Star Trek was my workout buddy, I had to find a new one (Community).0 -
Hi all...hope you are feeling better Sherry. I feel better today.
Went for 2 mile walk before work instead of Nia, needed the extra time to go to bank before work.

Great thread starter! Glad to see so many workouts.
The past few months haven’t been great. I’m up a few lbs. I haven’t been consistent with healthy eating, cardio, or lifting. I want this to be a bump, not a derailment. I kept thinking I’d kick into high gear and was unable to even kick into medium gear. Yesterday I had a come-to-Jesus moment…with myself.
What I really want is to be a fit, active, healthy mom. SO I GOTTA DO THE WORK. I decided to commit to another 12 sessions with my trainer. Starting tomorrow I’ll be getting up at 4:30am once a week and have my booty kicked. Weekly sessions are a good thing and help me stay focused.
My next goal is to weigh 168 (15lbs away), that will move me from obese to overweight.
Wed Goals report:
1) Eat within cals +/- 150. Check plus! I had 200 calories left over.
2) Have a cooked veggie PLUS salad and/or soup with dinner. Check! I had soup and salad.
3) Appetizers! Nope.
4) Log in dinner FIRST so I can work backwards from there. Check!0 -
Laura - you are so motivational! You inspire me to exercise just so I can post!
Jess - I am huge Star Trek fan. (I'm really kind of geeky, but I will say I never dressed up - but I did go to the premiers of the movies,) My husband and I started dating while watching next generation episodes on T.V in college.
Have you watched all the off shoots too? Voyager and Deep Space Nine? Let me know if that is too geeky for you. : )
Today I walked/ran. I ran a mile in a row without stopping, then I needed a little breather so I did 10 pushups in between laps and did 3 more laps. I liked doing that.
Plus took kids school shopping so I have 17,000 steps yeah! Shopped for my son for cross country shoes. I think my husband has inspired him to try that! He normally runs in track the 1 or 2 mile. I can't believe he is going to be a senior this year! I felt good that I had done research for my husband and I's running shoes that I could help him. We got him Soucony brand. Although I like the Asics pair he seemed to be very happy with his choice.
Hope everyone had a great day!0 -
