I had my gallbladder out last Monday but my surgeon said as long as I don't experience any pain I can resume my couch potato to 5K training as early as Thursday! The race is October 11th so I need to get with the program. Anyway, anyone else training for a race? I can't do any weight lifting for 4 weeks so jogging only. I ran it lat year in 47 minutes (I know - bad - a 92 year old beat me) so my goal is to run it in 30-35 minutes this time around. I just need new shoes!

Good for you! This is on my list of things I want to accomplish. I am almost 3 weeks post-sleeve and am only walking about 1.5/1.75 miles. Good luck with your race!0

I did couch to 5K last year. I'm currently training for a 1/2 marathon in mid November. I'm doing a couple of 5K's between now and then though.0

I want to start running 5k's. I did a 5k on my treadmill last night in 35 mins. I know the treadmill helps you but I felt good about the run. Good luck to you!0

I'm doing the Zombies, Run 5k training program. I'm on week 3 or 4 now but had off last week because I was on vacation. I've signed up for a 5k at the end of September and one at the beginning of November. My goal for the first one is just to run the entire thing regardless of how slow it is. The goal on the second one is to run faster than the first.
I like easy to reach goals!
The Zombies training is fun... little story line going through it to make the time pass faster.0 -

Do a dry run.
Figure out a 5k course in you neighborhood where you normally run. Have your husband ((?) the guy behind you in your profile pic) start you off and start a stopwatch then drive to the finish line. Bust your *kitten* to run the course and have him set up a finish line tape. I bet you will kick butt and be ready to run a real course when one comes around. There is something about having a finish line that makes you go all out. If you can see the line from 200 meters out, you will have a finishing kick that will surprise you with its intensity.
Go get it!0 -
I highly recommend using the C25K program. It was what worked best for me. Tomorrow, I'll go for a run, with my Endomondo set for 3.1 miles and will run until i hear it tell me i've met the milage requirement. so far I'm at about 37/38 minutes for three miles but at some point it will get faster!! good luck!!0
