For the fun of it

And so you don't waste your time and money. I had the South Beach app on my iPhone. I'd never used it much, but was bored the other day and played around with it. And, paid for one week of "real" service (4.99).

For that 4.99 I got to go into the south beach website, and see their forums etc.

I found the website horrifyingly over-busy. Holy cow. Too much going on, and too convoluted.

And the forums were a ghost town.

cheers!

I have to be honest and say that all I know about the diet is what I have read in the books. I started it with a friend when I was desperate to shift the first few stone after coming off Orlistat (the fat buster pill), she gained 2 stone (cheating I guess) and I lost 6. I am now back on South Beach having discovered that WW just didn't work for me - it's not possible to maintain.

That said, I am a habitual eater, I cannot stand wholewheat pasta but love pasta, does anyone have any alternatives that aren't Quinoa or lentils?

I used to be a member of SB years ago ...... it absolutely saved my life ! I lost 45 lbs, which may not be much, but it completely turned my life around. When they "improved" their website, it just wasn't the same. I dropped out & came here. But I still receive Phase 2 emails every day ....... mostly I delete it, but sometimes I read to see what's going on (it's read only, I can't write anything). Maybe cuz it's summertime, but wowzers, it's dead over there ........ the same handful of members are writing on every single thread, desperately trying to keep it alive. It used to be such a lively, jumping place with lots of great ideas, recipes & encouragement. Sad to see it now, and I blame it all on the "improved" layout ...... it's no fun anymore !

That being said ....... I still try my best to eat beachy ...... it makes sense to me & really isn't complicated at all ......

    Hey, whatever works :drinker:

That should be all you need. (the books).

    Have you tried einkorn pasta?

What is einkorn pasta? I live in the UK and though we do have a fair few things here sometimes they are harder to come by (believe it or not) unless you live in London!

It's an ancient wheat. Easily gotten in Colorado. Get able in London. Saw it las summer at whole foods. Google it? I adore the texture.

I live in a small village right on the South Coast of the UK, the most exotic thing we have here is probably bulgar wheat and even that is only available in a health food store and it's not cheap...it's unbelievable how difficult things are to get even in this day and age. This is the point where I got so frustrated last time that I just about gave up - meat is fine, but a person can only live on it for so long before they go insane...I can cope without fruit and sugar, but pasta (and to a certain extent potatoes) are my go to foods when I am in need of a bit of comfort.

Dang. Even amazonUK doesn't have it. They have Einkorn flour, but not the pasta. I hope it gets there soon. I really enjoy it, and it doesn't wreck my stomach.

I know. Sometimes I will see recipes for things and think "yum, that looks really good" then I will try and get the ingredients for it and find that it's virtually (if not completely) impossible.

    That's gotta be frustrating.

    Try Jovial maybe?

In the end, the functional parts of the website are ok. It's just the forum that makes me nuts. ha.

Thanks for the suggestion...unfortunately just looked at Jovial and they only deliver within the US.
