New Work ID

Finally got my new ID card for work. I laid the new one on top of the old one and snapped a photo. When I look in the mirror, I don't think I look that different. But, you can see it in the comparison photos. Both of these were taken at the end of August, a year apart. I started eating keto/LCHF in October (about 7-8 weeks after the first photo was taken).

I wish I had taken some full body before photos. But, I didn't. I have a bunch of photos from when I looked terrible, but nothing that really makes for good comparison shots.

These look great. You certainly didn't look "terrible" before keto but you look great now! How much weight have you lost? What a difference. Great work! Are you in maintenance now?

Thanks. There's about a 22 kg (~48 lbs) difference between the photos. I've always carried the weight well. People knew I was heavy, but few really would guess how much. The only time I ever had someone guess it spot on was when being admitted to the emergency room, but admitting nurses have a lot of practice weighing different body shapes/types. Even now, people will ask how much I weigh (usually out of morbid curiosity because they see the "heart attack in Tupperware" I brought for lunch and I mention that I lost weight eating food like that) and they are always shocked by how much it is. The difference between what people guess and what it actually is tends to be around 15-25 pounds.

I am almost to maintenance. Technically, I am still above a "healthy" BMI. I am at a 26.5 on that scale. I would like to get below 25, just to say I did it. But, I am also not stressed about that. I'm working more on strength training (body-weight exercises mostly) and fitness. I stopped tracking calories (although I weigh daily to make sure I don't slowly start packing on) and am still losing a little each week. Basically, I feel like I am at maintenance. I would like to lose a little more, and I am currently on that path, but I am not actively working towards that. I'm just letting my body settle where it wants.

Somewhere I have the perfect pre-keto picture. I am making bagels and was 32 kg (70 lbs) heavier. I looked every bit of that weight too. I will have to dig them out. I loved making bread and bagels. My body did not love it quite as much.
