My Cholesterol Levels Make No Sense!

Before my sleeve surgery, 9 months ago, my triglycerides were at 199 (high), HDL was at 42 (low), LDL was at 129 (within range), and my total cholesterol was 209 (slightly high).
Nine months and 114 lbs later, my triglycerides are at 88 (within range) and my HDL is at 63 (above 46 is good). Both are good news. HOWEVER, my LDL has jumped up from 129 to 159 and my total cholesterol up from 209 to 240! I don't see how it's possible for cholesterol to jump up 31 points in 9 months while living on skinless chicken breasts, mushrooms, broccoli, Premier shakes, and Quest bars.
I asked my surgeon why my LDL and total cholesterol could have gone up so high and so quickly and he said he didn't know and that I would need to ask my PCP. So until I can make an appointment with my PCP, I'm freaking out.

I'm having the same issues with my cholesterol as well. I've never had problems with it even when I was morbidly obese, but now I do. It's not out of control or anything, but it is up a few points. I thought maybe it could have something to do with my thyroid medication. I never had a thyroid problem either, but after surgery I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.0

Same issue, all my levels fell to healthy but cholesterol went up. My nutritionist said it was due to eating such high amounts of animal protein at exclusion of other foods for so long (by their direction of course). This was at my 6mo appt and she helped me reconfigure my goals for my new weight. I have sleeve0

Going to the MD is a good thing. That being said, don't worry too much in the meanwhile. If you called your PCP or cardiologist and they didn't freak out and tell you to come in yesterday, that is an indication that you are probably fine. Also on your side, the fact that you are a woman, and have lost a ton of weight. I would say that you should consider consuting with a lipidemiologist - a subspeciality of cardiology. They do more testing than your PCP, and can give you really good advice about your lab tests and what to do, if anything, to address your concerns.0

Yeah, my cholesterol levels are on crack too. Mine have always been perfect, but were slightly elevated at my last MD check up (I am 7 weeks out of the sleeve).
Good news is, she wasnt tripping about it too much, just upped my synthroid since my thyroid levels were a tad off too, but she couldnt stop freaking out about my insulin coming down from 75 to 39, and my A1C going from 7.2 to 6.0, and my fasting sugar going from 140 to 105 in two months.
Give a little, get a little. Hehe.0
