Best Cardio Machine

Hey Ladies,

I'm new to the forum and wanted to see what type of cardio activity worked best for toning my legs. I do have a leg day as far doing circuits and what not, just looking for something additional to that since I am starting to pack on the muscle on them babies.

When you say toning, what do you mean?

Since you are asking for a cardio machine in the title, I'm assuming you want to reduce fat in your legs. In that case, you cannot spot reduce. You will lose body fat overall. Remember a calorie deficit is super important here.

If you want cardio that requires lots of leg work, the stairmaster. Personally, I prefer to run and lift heavy on leg days.
  • I concur with MrsSchimmy... I think you'll need to clarify your question a bit more to get a concise answer... Personally, I don't use cardio machines besides spinning much these days, but just about any cardio machine will give your legs a good work out, if you utilize tension and speed in high intensity intervals... Heavy lifting will definitely give you faster results in regards to toning your legs and building muscle. Cardio will help to increase stamina... Hope that helps..
  • ahhh sorry I should have clarified. I was only doing weights and circuits for a while now, my legs have grown to be bulkier and I want to fit into my old jeans. I have decided to now throw in some cardio to trim off what is left as far as fat. I was just curious what machines work best for weight loss. I know I can't target my legs but I know certain machines like stairs can make the legs bulky in some instances.

I can only speak for myself and what has worked for me, but going lighter with more reps on legs helps to keep them from getting too big too fast. I did spin for about a year and my legs never got big and bulky. But with spin, I was also eating at a deficit.

I may be wrong, but it almost sounds like you want something that isn't all that achievable. By that I mean you seem to have the "normal" thinking that lifting weights equals bulky and cardio equals slim.

You may want to rethink your goals. Or eat at a bigger deficit to achieve the slim look you want.
