Hi , I am Diane and have been doing this now for 5 years, 3 years with another online program ''Ichange'' until Herbalife took over. I started here Jan, 2012....my start date with picture says 2014 thats because I got fed up one day and deleted my account and then tried to re-open the original but it had me start over again.
I am having tons of problems losing, I am up 1 or 2 and then back down 1 or 2....I have changed my calories goals and done more exercise and still nothing, my diary is closed cause I change goals so often. I take a few medication which doesn't help. But I keep trying. I log everyday and I encourage my friends..so if you want I would love more friends of my age, feel free to add me ok.
I am 66 years old and that number will change very soon to 67. I am retired and I play golf. I am from Canada. I also am french with an english schooling and upbringing. I have two fantastic children Carole 46 and Roch 42 years old, and I am step Mom to one fantastic man 39 who has given us 2 wonderful boys Eloic 8 and Louka 6.
I hope to be reading and encourage you all..take care :flowerforyou:

Welcome, Diane. I tend to be a down 1, up 3, down 4 person. This is a great group, but i do advise opening your diary to friends. Sometimes it takes someone else to see a pitfall. I just got back from Qué be City visit. Loved it.0

Welcome, Diane. I think that many of us can relate to the ups and downs. You will find lots of encouragement from the group. Glad you decided to join us0

Welcome Diane! I really think you can do it this time and stick with it.
Based your other posts you are knowledgeable about exercise and calories in/ calories out. Golfing is a good activity with lots of walking and whole body movement to stay limber. Granted, some meds make it more difficult to surrender the extra pounds.
What if you chose a daily calorie goal and just stuck with it for 3 months? Guesstimate your TDEE and set a daily deficit of 500 calories? Then the hard part, log everything every day.0 -

You can figure your TDEE in MFP or there are other calculators. 500 calorie a day deficit will be 1 pound a week. Just remember that if you figure your TDEE activity level by taking into account your workouts/exercise, then you can't also log your exercise and eat back the calories. That would be counting the burned calories twice.0

I can't find where to calculate the TDEE......can someone tell me exactly where it is on here please.......I am guessing it is in our profile/settings but I do find all that quite confusing.....:ohwell:
Thank you in advance:ohwell: :flowerforyou:

OK - I googled it and worked it out.....my BMR varied on two sites so my TDEE did too...between 1700 - 1800...so I guess I should be eating between 1200 - 1300 calories a day? Is that how it works? Of course not an exact science , just a guideline.....
Sorry Diane to have highjacked your welcome......:flowerforyou:

no problem Jean I have gone to ----scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/, once you enter all your info it will tell at the bottom what your BMR is and the calories to eat BMR and then it will give you the calories to eat to maintain and then it gives you TDEE those are the calories to eat and not to eat your exercericse calories back as they have already been taken into count when you provide your activity level...good luck0 -
Sorted! :flowerforyou:

Hi Diane,
I'm 62 since Sunday and I have been off and back on a diet since I was 14. It is so much harder than it used to be! I am petite and have a pretty slow metabolism. I can survive the zombie apocalypse with very few calories. This will give me an advantage should that happen!
I started my new fitness plan in June and I am a little surprised at how well I've done this time around. What is different?
I was inspired by a book and made up my mind to take care of myself and my health as seriously as I take care of my job and my family. I exercise EVERY SINGLE DAY - NO EXCEPTIONS - EVER. This is not terrible strenuous and actually quite enjoyable most of the time. That part surprised me too. I walk before work and after work, average 2 miles twice a day, quick pace but not so quick I can't carry on a conversation or enjoy my iPod.
I try to not exceed 1200 calories a day. Now I've done that many times before, but without the exercise I still don't loose.
The plan is that simple, but it only works for me if I stick to it.
Good luck to you and welcome to our group!
