how do you track your calories burned per workout?

Good Morning all, I'm new to DDP Yoga, and recently started posting my progress on mfp... I have the Max Pack, and so have access to all the workouts on the 3 DVDs, but I don't know how I should log my calories burned when I post my workouts to mfp. Unfortunately, I've only been able to just put "yoga" for however many minutes the specific workout was, but I'm pretty sure that I burned more than the number registered on mfp. Any suggestions?

My heart rate monitor gives me an estimate of calories burned, and I have noticed that what I burn doing DDP yoga is double (or more) the estimate that MFP gives for yoga.

I created a workout for each DDP Yoga that I do. Then I use what the heart monitor tells me.

I agree that the calories burned is about double what MFP has for doing yoga.

Definitely get a Heart Rate Monitor. We were estimating how much we were burning, based on how much we were sweating (ie guestimating it based on other exercises that we thought were similar). We were WAY off...

Once we started using Heart Rate Monitors we found out two things:
    1) We were burning no where NEAR the amount of calories we thought we were
    2) We were not getting our Heart Rate anywhere near the target zones

I have to assume that this is because we are not doing the dynamic resistance correctly, but the fact remains that we wouldn't have known any of this without having the Heart Rate monitor.

So long story short, figure out how to get a Heart Rate monitor. It will really help you to get the most from your workout.

Thank you, on2016! :) I got myself a Polar FT60, and you're absolutely right, it really showed me i needed to engage more with the dynamic resistance! :)
