Finding a lost Fitbit ...

I've been a faithful Fitbit user for over four years and have never lost/washed it ... until tonight. I noticed it was gone while I was at my son's soccer game. I thought I had just left it home, but when I couldn't find it around the house, I did remember clipping it on (I had changed clothes) before the game. I HAD been wearing ... it was lost.
Long ago I heard about an app called BTL Explorer. It SHOULD be called the "Find my Fitbit" app! If you are within a certain distance (I'm not sure, 20 feet or so) it can pick up the signal the Fitbit (and other blue tooth electronics) send out. It will say ONE, ZIP, FLEX, it can tell the difference. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but once it picks up the Fitbit, it shows a signal strength, as you get closer, that number changes (it goes down ... 100 you are in the vicinity, 70 you are pretty close, 30 you have your iphone right next to the Fitbit).
Knowing it was still a longshot, I went back to the soccer fields and retraced my steps. I'd walked my entire route from the parking lot to the field, around the field and was about to give up when ... it picked up a Fitbit. I opened my app and it synced ... it was MY Fitbit (the fields were empty at this point, it was also completely dark!) I played hot/cold and then dropped to my knees and was running my fingers through the long grass ... and I FOUND it!
So anyway - GREAT little app to have just in case. You do have to know the general area, but it could be handy even locating it in the house (I turned it on at home and walked around, and that's when I realized it was NOT in my house anywhere). I'm SO happy, I am a bit addicted to my Fitbit feedback (and I'm sure I missed out on 1000+ steps between the time it fell off and I found it).
... and my kid scored a goal in the game.

Ive used this app multiple times to locate my "lost" fitbit. There's only one problem, that is if your family has more than one fitbit, and both are "in the house". Then it picks up both of them, named the same. The fun part comes in trying to figure out which one is the "lost" one. It gets a little fun. Another tip, If you know you're close to your fitbit but still can't see it (and it syncs with you phone) set an alarm on it in the near future. That way (if it's quiet), you can hear it buzz and flash. It's like playing hide and seek.0
