Stuck!!

This is probably going to sound like a rant, but here goes: I've been stuck at the same weight for 2 or 3 weeks- just struggling to loose ounces, when the first 15 lbs. came off so easily. I know, I'm not as strict as I was when I first started out, but I'm more active than I was and am under my calorie goal just about every day. Why is the weight not coming off. In the past, the same thing has happened, and it's caused my motivation to plummet. This time, I'm eating well, exercising and ATTEMPTING to lose weight for my health, and not simply my appearance, so I'm still OK..just wondering, what it is exactly that I need to do to actually take off the weight.

Chillax your swallowing all your stress, it took me 3 months to lose 2 pounds. At the end of that three months my A1c was 5.3%. I have lost 3 pounds in four days. The relief of knowing I am doing the right things to keep my numbers good was a huge weight off my shoulders.. (maybe even three pounds)

I stalled out at one point a little over a year ago. I went out and bought a cheap food scale. For the first time I could see a proper portion size. It was eye opening - manufacturers portion sizes are really small. The simple act of weighing my food allowed me to be more accurate and consistent with tracking. Very shortly after making adjustments the weight starting coming off again.

Regarding activity, I utilize exercise to help with the management of my diabetes and arthritis. Diet is far more important than exercise for weight loss. For diabetics both diet and exercise are important.

You're doing great. Keep up the good work.

Have you been checking your body composition with a lean/fat mass test? Some scales have it built in, and you can pick up a handheld device which can test it as well.

If your lean mass is going up, or your fat mass is going down... if your overall weight is steady, you're still progressing. It just means that you are strengthening/adding to muscle mass while losing weight.

I didn't realize you started on this journey in August. 18 pounds is a great start you may have a little plateau here for a month or more I know I did and it was really frustrating, just keep doing what you doing and you'll notice that over a period of time your weight will trend steadily downward. Just remember what my doctor told me when I stepped on the scale at 346 pounds. She explained that I didn't get to that weight in two or three years and if it takes two or three years to lose it. I will have worked a lot harder to go down then up.

I think you may have answered your question in your first post...you're not as strict as you used to be.
