REDUCTION!! T yhought it was going to be a close one. less than a pound away from the 170's - I'm stoked!!
Light - so very happy to see you back on...we've missed you!!
Sarah - where are your numbers? Are you making you a priority yet?
Sheesh - tomorrow's the big day isn't it? Hubby's retirement begins. Best wishes!!
Anniversary was great - we made it. Thank for the good wishes. Spent the entire day at the tkd tournament, hubby competed for the first time since the new hip. He didn't place, but he had a great time and next tourney is in Nov - so I'm sure he will improve.
I see the surgeon tomorrow and get this blessed splint off. I'm thinking it is the cause of most of my discomfort. I need to decide tomorrow night if I'm going away with hubby to camp this weekend. He's encouraging me to attend. I can take books etc. and enjoy the cool mountain air. We shall see.
Take care everyone!

Hey Lois, great reduction!! So proud of you. I saw your taunt today on Fitbit, ha ha ha! However, my Fitbit had died and I didn't even know it until I synced to see what I had done after working out . . .BOO!! Yes, tomorrow is the last day of work (at a job anyway) for my hubby. I read a little book "Survive Your Husband's Retirement". Funny, and some really good ideas. I'll keep you posted.
Sarah, I see that last week you had a loss of 1 lb. Way to go! I'm looking forward to seeing your post this week.
Light, again, I'm glad you're back. I record The Biggest Loser to my DVR, and I started watching the new season yesterday while I worked out. There're some very interesting changes this season. It's worth watching just to look at Jessie . . .
It's a very motivating show.
Here are my numbers:
SW: 156
LW: 137.5
TW: 138.5
(up ANOTHER pound . . .YIKES!)
I'm doing better so far this week. I've gotta turn this thing around.0 -

Oh kriminy! I had not expected this. But then, I logged my food for yesterday, and my intake was much higher than I expected. This should be a good lesson to log my food as the day goes on--and not wait until the next morning to log an entire day.
Yesterday I had a huge spinach salad for lunch and broiled salmon for dinner, which sounds like a good day. BUT--I had salty feta cheese on the salad, plus some pecans, plus some dried cranberries, so it added up with calories and sodium. Then, I had more salmon than I should (6 oz) and we stayed up until about 1 a.m. watch the wildcard baseball game between KC and Oakland, I found myself snacking.
So today, I need to double down on the deficit. I also need to drink a lot of water to get the salt out of my system.
So many good things going on! Lois, I'm glad you're recovering well and that 28 year anniversary is certainly something to celebrate. And Sheesh, your birthday and hubby's retirement are also great milestones.
Light, I'm so delighted you are back on the board. Almost every time I log in to this board, I think of you. I hope you feel that we're pulling for you always, and I hope that you'll be able to find more time to let us know how you're doing. A pound a week is an awesome goal. When I watch BL and see shorter women losing multiple pounds a week, I know what it took. We can't put in the amount of time those contestants do, but seeing their progress always motivates me. And yes, Sheesh, Jessie is not hard on the eyes. Neither is Dolvett. What a smile that man has!
Well, have to get back to work. Hubby's neck and back are giving him some trouble again, and he can't get out to walk with me in the evening, so I have to be able to stop in time to walk and get back before dark--which is coming so much earlier now. I could deal with colder weather if we could just keep more daylight. :ohwell:0 -
Sarah, I just popped on to see your numbers. Sorry to hear hubby is hurting . . . I think it's hard to go ahead and take care of myself when my hubby hurts. It sometimes feels self centered or some weird emotion. So I try to remember that I'm better for him and my family when I take care of me. Gotta do it.
We stayed up to see that KC vs. Oakland game also!! Wow!! Haven't seen a game that good in a long time. I love this time of year and the baseball playoffs and World Series! Just to let you know, I'm going be be cheering for the Giants
Hope everyone has a good week. Light, check in with us soon! Lois, I passed you on the Fitbit leaderboard today, ha ha ha!0 -
well, BL only lasted one hour tonight instead of the 2 hrs I expected. That allows me just a little bit more time before I fall into bed but I still have laundry to put on hangers and dishes to wash. Long week and I am soooo ready for a weekend.
Last week 187.2, this week = 186.2
one day at a time, one week at a time...
keep going, everyone...make those days count0 -
Light, you are so right . . . one day at a time. Great loss! I welcome one pound per week at my age . . that's 500 calories per day deficit, and hard to get. The Biggest Loser shows a very unrealistic rate of weight loss. I'm very happy for those folks on the show, but real people in the real world won't see that.
Sarah, sorry about your Nats . . . happy about my Giants
Lois, so far the retirement has been really fun! On Thursday (his first day) we went out to breakfast to a local cafe he has always wanted to try, but never had time to before. Then, we went to my park and walked the mile path (with steep hills) twice. (I usually do at least 4 miles, but he's working up to that
) Then, we went home for lunch, then took our golf clubs to a local range to practice. Then, we took in an early movie. ("The Equalizer" . . . old man righting wrongs in very macho way, ha ha ha!!) The next day, we did a horseback ride up a canyon, and then did 5 consecutive zip lines down!!! (I bought the adventure on Groupon.) Today, he is really sore, so I guess I'll back off a bit. Besides, it's his turn to plan our "Mystery Date", which we will do every week.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. We have a neighborhood get-together tonight, includes appetizers and wine. My goal is to stay on track!! Like light says, one day at a time.0 -
Sounds like a lot of fun to have hubby retired and able to spend time with you- almost like courting all over again, only you know each other better and don't really need to impress anymore, LOL. Hope it will always be this nice for the two of you

The weather was glorious today and I hosed out the chicken area, filled the bird feeders, watched the Thunderbirds fly overhead (performing at the airport in town but I was in the fly over zone a couple of times
) and finished off the day by doing the edging. It's been such a rainy month that this is really the first dry day we've had in ages. I should have mowed the front yard but the edging needed it worse. It was nice to get outside and I enjoyed the work, though it didn't burn many calories
One thing I learned from watching the BL is that there is a LOT of work that goes into losing that sort of weight every week. Not only is it not realistic, but I am not interested in putting that much effort into it. Truthfully, a slower weight loss works better for me and is healthier... should work better for everyone, really. My problem comes in keeping it off. :-/ I am lazy and my hobbies are quiet, sitting still type things. Luckily I am a goal oriented person and I just have to remember to do the exercise before my prize activity
