Wow, they've really changed the site! Congratulations, Lois. Hitting a new "decade" is so exciting. Hope you'll soon have two hands and feeling your old self--or better.
Sheesh, the one thing that made seeing my beloved Nats lose last night was knowing that you were celebrating the SF's win. I keep reminding myself that "it's baseball," and you never know what will happen. One wild pitch, or one stumble can turn around a whole game. It was fun, though, to see Bryce plunk those homers into the bay. Now, I'll console myself by remembering that I'm a Marylander and that the Orioles are still in it.
My weight was 144.4 yesterday and 145.2 today, so I'm still in the trough. It is so hard to find time to plan meals and stay active when I'm putting in these 10+ hour days. I see the difference on the weekends, even if I'm not doing planned activity. Oh, well--I'm going to get into self pity or worse, so I'd better do a little attitude adjustment and move on. Tonight I have to visit a friend in a rehab center (he had cancer and had to have part of his jaw removed!) so I'll have to work hard to get a walk in.0 -
Holy moly! Here we are. . finally found you.
Lois, you are so fantastic!!! In the 170s and going lower, I'm sure. You are really in a groove . . keep it up!
Sarah, I was thinking about you watching the game last night . . . It was another good one. I'll pull for the Orioles for you (for now, LOL!).
It is so hard to get a handle on all of the components of weight loss AND life in general. The one thing that really works when I do it is planning, shopping, and making meals ahead. (Lois inspired idea
) Make a bunch of meals on Sunday, put into a tupperware all pre-measured . . . it's so much easier. My hubby likes them too. There are videos on YouTube with a bunch of ideas and demonstrations on how to do it, especially when you search "figure competitors meal prep". If I do that, I lose weight. I think it's more important than working out. I've been doing that for a week:
SW: 156
LW: 138.5
TW: 138
Goal Weight: 120
(loss of .5 lbs)
Nothing to shout about, but I'll take it. I'm planning to make meals ahead this week too. Have a great week. GO GIANTS AND ORIOLES!!0 -
GREAT REDUCTION SHEESH!! I really believe it is 80% planning and meal prep and 20% activity for weight reduction. I haven't worked out since surgery and my weight is moving in the right direction. I am so in the groove!!
Sarah - we gotta get your mojo going!!
My cousin sent me a pic of her and her daughter going to the Nats game and I thought of you Sarah!
Plan and follow your plan!!0 -
I decided to come back on the board after I logged dinner, and I darned well couldn't get here forever! I saw Light's comments about the new changes on the news feed. Looks like we're all struggling to just find the ole SNS board. Lois, I like that you thought of me. 'cause I do love my Nats! I also love the fact that the weather is a little warmer here today, so maybe I can still get a walk in tonight. I'm going now to stick my head out the door. It's ten minutes until 10 here in the east. I'll think of you all as I walk the cul-de-sacs--too late and too dark to head too far from home.

well, I found you this morning and we'll see if I can find you again later. Not much time but I wanted to let you all know I found you
Sarah, I HAVE to do make ahead meals in order to eat smart with the work schedule I have. I leave the house by 7:15 and don't get home until between 6:30-7p most nights. Then I have to do my exercise and fall into bed so I can get my 8 hrs sleep. It only leaves me a little bit of time so I do my make ahead cooking on the weekends. I have a seal-a-meal and make up my food in family sized, then divide it out to individual portions to bag/seal/freeze, allowing me quick freezer meals to pull out for lunches. I have boiled eggs ahead of time for breakfast and supper is easy with meat/fish and veggies as an established rule. Not that I am the poster child to copy since I put my weight back on, but it is more the lack of exercise that did that and the fact I totally fell off the program for a few years.
Anyways, last week's weight= 186.2, today's weight = 185.2 I am meeting my weekly goal, though I missed my monthly goal by 0.4 lbs that week of my knee injury and decreased exercise. Still, I'm pleased with how things are going. Now, to get a little exercise in before getting out to work...0 -
Hello, all. Well it's a very overcast and dark morning here. Since it's a federal holiday, I was hoping for fall sunshine, as that energizes me. On a rainy, dark day, I find it hard to get moving.
Light, I'm so glad you're back. I related to your struggles to stay active when work takes such a chunk of your day. I have to keep reminding myself that the nature of my work demands that I sit still and concentrate, so I simply have to find ways to offset that. I have yet to start taking 5 minute walk breaks, though. It sounds so easy, but I get into what I'm doing, and two or three hours pass when it feels like a half hour. I also play "beat the clock" a lot to meet deadlines, and I tap a lot of experts in my work and have to be available whenever they are. It's a challenge, but it's not a challenge that I can't overcome. I just have to remind myself.
Today, even though it's a federal holiday and I'm supposedly off, I need to work a few hours to meet a deadline. It's that or be on pins and needles tomorrow. But I plan to get in two walks. Normally, I'd burn calories by doing fall yard work, but the weather is not going to allow much of that today. So I'm logging in to say that I'm going to move enough to break 1900 today. I did that yesterday, so I can do it again, even if I do put in some desk time.
Sheesh, I watched the Giants play last night and cheered them on with all my might--even though they did oust my beloved Nats. Will do the same tonight. Go Giants!!
Lois, I hope that your wrist is continuing to improve. Sending you good vibes, my friend.0 -
Sarah, it's 7:30 pm and I've been home for about 10 min. I'm beat and have put in barely over 3000 steps. Some days are just really tough to get the intentional exercise. Good thing I got up early and did it while I was still fresh. I'm ready for bed ... though I haven't had supper yet. And on days like this, I really couldn't care less about supper but I'm eating anyway since I know it's something I should do.
Hope you are able to figure out how to get some exercise in... even if it means walking with Leslie Sansone
