Do I need to log a run on MYP?

Hi,
I have the Garmin connect with HR monitor.
I was wondering if it was best to wear the watch when exercising because it adds steps to my count and I'm concerned about duplicate calorie burns making me feel as though I can eat more, because I also add calories burned via the HRM which shows on MFP. However because the steps are added too, it looks like I've burned more than I have?? I have a feeling I should take the watch off and just use the HRM so that steps and HRM calories aren't both added.
Also I walk A LOT with a pram, what happens to my step count with that?
I'm confused...

Are you wearing a HR monitor in addition to using the Vivofit? If so, do you start an activity/workout on the Vivofit when you exercise?
Unfortunately if you have Garmin Connect and MFP linked together, any exercise you enter into MFP will transfer over to GC - so you will basically get calorie credit for double the burn.
Another unfortunate thing is that if you use a Garmin HR monitor (I use the Forerunner cuz I like the cadence info when I run) and are using the same Garmin Connect account AND you start an activity for that exercise on your Vivofit -- you will again get double credit for your calorie burn (you'd think GC would know that both exercises were done at the same time and cancel out the cals for one). The calorie credit/burned difference doesn't seem to be as great if I don't start an activity on the Vivofit but it still allows me to get credit for the steps.
Vivofit seems to do a pretty good job of detecting steps even when your arms aren't doing the normal walking thing.0 -
If I am pushing a pram (or shopping trolley) for a long distance I remove the vivofit from my wrist and attach it to the waistband of my jeans (or in a pocket). I find it gives a more accurate reading there.0
