Good Morning,

So I decided to start this thread off since today was my weigh-in day.
SW: 152
TW:150.2
Change = Loss of 1.8lbs

I'm quite happy with that. Soo close being back into the 140's.
How did you all do this week?

For some reason I woke up in a crabby mood. Everything is annoying me so far and it's only 7am here lol I'm not sure why and nothing really caused it. What do you do to improve you mood when you're grumpy for no reason??

    SW: 238
    LW: 177.6
    TW 179.2

    GAIN of 1.6!!

Yikes. Pizza at hairdresser (even just one slice, and odd food when travelling this past weekend are my contributors)!! I am back on program as of Monday, so next week will be fabulous!!!

Kelly - WELCOME BACK!!! and CONGRATULATIONS!! Don't be crabby. It's going to be a high of 93 today and wonderful!!!

I read a lot of the other threads, but now am completely blanking out!!

Light - stay with us GF!!!

Sarah - prayers are with you and your friends.

OK...so I shared that we traveled to Calif for a very quick turnaround for my dear friend's bday (literally gone for just under 32 hours). Well a pic got posted on FB of me and hubby. Wouldn't you know that CHERYL aka "Nonners" ratted me out for a mini cupcake!!! I didn't even see it in the pic as it was so small. That girl outed me at 3am my time (I was just crawling into bed after driving and then partying). When I woke at 11:30 I had to re examine the pic because I swore it wasn't in the pic (not that I didn't enjoy one...just that there was no evidence). So ladies beware...I was busted by her...and then a few other friends joined in. Dang I have some tough supporters - THANK YOU!!!

I have my salads and beef for lunch ready for the remainder of the week. Advance meal prepping is truly the key!!

LOL, Lois :) Gotta stay with the plan...

Kelly, great loss this week! Good to have you back :)

I just got home and need to fix supper and do some exercise before falling into bed so keeping this short, but at least I'm here :) My weigh in is tomorrow and I'm posting a loss- I just don't know how much of a loss it will be yet. I've changed my foods around a bit and it seems to be doing what I need it to do.

Great job light!! You're right.. a loss is still a loss, so be proud of it.

Lois - you'll see a drop next week for sure. Guaranteed the salt in the pizza made you retain water.

Glad to be back. I appreciate the motivation! So far I've been super good at logging all my foods and I've been keeping my steps up. Still gotta add in the weight training, but I think I'll start that when I get home. Today is my 8 hour drive day, but I still managed to wake up at 5am to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Every little bit counts ladies!

    Hi, Ladies,

Sorry to be a day late with posting my weight. I did weigh yesterday morning before I got dressed, but I had a busy day at work, an appointment to talk with a gal I mentor right after work, plans to walk in the mall with another woman I met while walking in the mall, and I made a big batch of homemade soup so I can freeze some and deliver it to a friend who is having a heart cath next week. I knew if I waited until next week to cook it, something might come up and it wouldn't get done. I also watched the last few innings of the World Series, and then did kitchen clean up until well after midnight. What a day, but a good day.

Kelly I sometimes have those off days, when I feel cranky and know that there's really no reason for me to feel so out of sorts. Could be hormones, could be interrupted sleep that you're not even aware of the next morning, or something else that has you a bit off balance. For me, the feelings are real even if my logical mind says they're unwarranted. When I get in a mood, it helps me to interact with people, because at times, if I'm in my mind, I'm behind the enemy line! Sometimes I call somebody; sometimes I log on here and tell on myself.

Lois, I got a good laugh about that mini-cupcake. I think it's' the small bites that I forget about that get me. That's probably why Timdad (remember him from the BodyBugg messages boards) suggested that you look at actual loss versus what the numbers say and make an adjustment. For me, adding 200 extra calories a day seems to work out over time, but my stubborn mind keeps rejecting that idea. It's hard enough to stay within my calorie goal without staring out the day 200 calories in the whole. (Like this whining?)Seriously, I need to start doing that again. But I also think the small gain is temporary travel weight.

Congrats Light and Kelly on those losses. And before I forget, I have to go back to last week's post to pick up my weight to post.

I have no memory! Here goes:

    SW: 155
    LW: 146.4
    TW: 145.4
    Goal: l30 or thereabouts

This means that I'm back where I was week before last--more or less--so I'm still running in place. Not good.

We had planned to go out of town this weekend, but decided today to postpone until next weekend so the foliage would be peak or a little past. We still have some green trees here. Because I know what travel and eating out can do, I need to be at least a full pound down by next Wednesday. Can I do it? Yes I can.

Hi! Kelly, it's so great to see you on this board! I see you on Fitbit, and your steps are great! You're right that steps aren't enough. Our bodies adapt so well to walking, and really to whatever we do regularly. Mixing it up is essential if we want change. For me last week, not any change:

    SW: 156
    LW: 137.5
    TW: 137.5
    Goal weight: 120 - 125

I spent last Thursday to Tuesday at our cabin with newly retired hubby, daughter, SIL and two granddaughters. My daughter who lives here came up on Sunday. We winterized the cabin, did some clean-up and touch up painting, but it's amazing how few steps that is. Also, I mostly cook and clean-up meals (no dishwasher.) But, we had a lot of fun, and (I hope) made some memories with those little girls :) We had some spooky Halloween fun by the outdoor fire, and of course, made S'mores. I only ate a couple of the toasted marshmallows.

Lois, your mini cupcake story made me laugh. Cheryl isn't one to pull any punches! You're doing so great!! It's difficult to stay the course with so much going on in life, but we can do it! Sometimes when I get discouraged I think about all the pounds that could have stayed on me if I had given up along the way. It's a constant battle, and probably always will be for me. I think it's worth it when I can do things with my hubby, kids, grandkids and friends that I know I wouldn't be doing if I was obese (as my mother was, and my sister is now).

Light, you are so awesome with your logging and consistent weight loss! Do you log your food for the day before you eat it? I've noticed that your diary will be complete early in the day . . I've tried that myself, and it really works. Then I feel like "Can't have that . . . I already completed my food log for today." Of course, the hard part is knowing what you're going to eat ahead of time ;)

Sarah, I hope your friend will be alright. How is your sister? Also, how about those SF Giants?!! We've really been enjoying the games. A close friend of mine recently moved to Kansas City to be near her son and grandkids, and she was at that game last night! We made a friendly wager on the series . . loser buys dinner for winners the next time we're together. It's been great fun on Facebook. . ha ha ha! Enjoy your weekend away in the fall colors. It's been a good one here! Gotta run, but next time I'll have to post about our fun experiences on our weekly "Mystery Dates" and other stuff we're doing post retirement :D

Kelly, good for you for making time to get your steps in this morning while you can. I get up early to exercise before work, too but have to admit that the last 2 mornings, I had other things to do so didn't get my exercises done until nearly bedtime. I'm worn out by then and mornings work so much better for me.

Sheesh, glad you had some family time while taking care of the cabin. In answer to the food, I plan out my meals on the weekend, log them in for each day while I have the time to balance out the fat/protein/carbs and then I use that plan when I pack my lunch. I don't have time to do it in the evenings after work and doing it in the morning means I don't get the exercise in. Weekend planning and cooking seems to just make life easier for me. Unless I do like I did this morning and forget to pack the chicken for my salad so I had no protein except what I had packed for my afternoon snack.

Sarah, sounds like you have quite a lot on you right now. Don't forget to take care of yourself in the midst of taking care of all those around you...

now, I need to get some more steps in before Lois catches up with me :)

Well it's 7:45am here and as I'm watching The Biggest Loser, it reminds me to see if anyone had any updates on here. Nice to read what everyone is up to. Everyone is busy with their lives, but we all seem to be managing to find time to stay healthy. It's great to see!

Sheesh - I'm just trying to stay ahead of you! lol I know sometime this week that you'll probably pass me, but I'll try my darnedest for that not to happen. I always get more steps in when I'm at work because there's a treadmill there and because I walk to and from work 4 times a day.

Sarah - That's very nice of you to make your friend the soup. Such a sweet thought :) My goal is also 130. We can do it!

    Hi, Ladies,

Well it looks like we all made good on our promise to log our weight this week. Yeah us! Because I don't use a Fitbit, I miss out on the steps race. What is your average number of daily steps? My goal is 8000 per day, which can be hard to reach given my sit-down job. I did break 10,000 day before yesterday, though.

I did find something interesting yesterday as I looked at my last 7 days on the BodyMedia site. When I walk with hubby I have a greater percentage of intense activity (interspersed with moderate activity) during my outside walk. For a short man, he has a long pace, so I walk faster it seems to stay up with him. Or maybe when I'm with someone I don't get lost in thought and start meandering. Wish his neck would let him walk more. After three good days in a row, yesterday was an "on the ice pack" day.

And Sheesh, I am so torn. I pull for the Giants because they're National League and I know you're a fan. But the Royals have waited so long, I find myself cheering them on, too. I saw a sign that a Royals fan was holding that said, "We've waited a lifetime for this--literally!" So, go baseball, What a sport!

Sarah - My goal for steps is 10,000 and I also have a desk job. I do everything possible to get my steps, including waking up early to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I walk as much as possible. This week I've averaged 12,000 per day, but that was with a lot of effort.

As for baseball.. I'm Canadian, so I'm a Jays fan. It's very difficult lol

The Nats came to DC from Canada, so I have soft spot for Canadian baseball. :-) And yes, the 10,000 is doable since I did that at least one day last week. It does take effort on days I put in 10-12 hours at work, though. The fall sunshine is spectacular here today, so I hope to get extra activity in, including some activity besides walking. Yard work engages a whole different set of muscles.

Came in from the yard and am off on walk number 2. Keep on me Kelly to not make excuses. :) I was thinking about Biggest Loser while out there bagging leaves and hacking down the dying ferns. I can't imagine going from being sedentary to dragging four tires around. At my age, I worry a little about my joints, but I worry more about getting to where I can't move because I didn't move. So off I go.

Kelly, I don't think I'll pass you this week . . LOL! Mystery date with hubby tomorrow. Driving to Boise Wednesday to spend Halloween with my Boise granddaughters :) Won't be back till Sunday. Sometimes it's so hard to get activity in. I promise to do my best though.

Sarah, the World Series has been so fun to watch this year! I love all the "old" style baseball . . . bunts, stolen bases, sacrifices, and really good pitching! Cheering on either team is fine with me . . . GO BASEBALL is right!!

My daily goal for steps is also 10,000. However, my distance goal is 4.5 miles, which is a bit more than 10,000, so I usually try to get that when I can. It's hard! I've learned that normal activity will never get me to 10,000 . . . I have to make it happen.

Kelly, I would encourage you to incorporate weight training into the mix. (I think you said you were thinking of doing that.) It's so important for women, and it will boost your metabolism. Lately, I've been doing a routine that is whole body, and only takes 20 minutes. If you're interested let me know, and I'll post it.

Sheesh, hope you had a great mystery date with your hubby. What did you end up doing?
Have a great time with your granddaughters, too :)

Great stepping, everyone. I have feet issues and walking 10,000 steps each day causes issues for me after a while but I haven't given up on trying to get there yet. I'm working up to it again, with the goal of 6000/day. That can be really tough at this time of the year when we are slammed at work and I get home at 7:30 with less than 2000 steps on my ticker :-/ I'd like to get out for walks at lunch again now that it's cooled off and maybe I can next week when we get back to regular staffing again.
