a reduction of 0.2 is still a reduction. ah well. Yeah.... no excuses, no reasons.
This was my note to my diet coach for the weekend...
Ok…so migraine fri night/sat am….
Sunday…attempted to cook bacon on the grill…yeah not a good idea…big time grease fire. Put my grill out of commission until 8pm. Had planned to grill chicken however we ended up with pizza and wings for dinner. I give up…lol POSITIVE NOTE: I did get grill going again and grilled my chicken for the week and salads prepared for lunch. Though I don’t want to work seven days a week…weekends are my nemesis (and hubby in some ways).
Focus focus focus!!!
This past weekend was a bit of a challenge, but I really need to figure out how to get to 176 by Friday...lol. OK..so I really want to be at 170 before Thanksgiving. I've got a few challenges headed my direction (huge picnic this Saturday for starters)!! Lunches are in my fridge at work so I will be on program through Saturday morning... I am working on my game plan for Saturday. Hubby and I will be at the park at 530am to ensure we have the ramada....and we usually don't leave until 3 or 4pm. Will bring my breakfast stuff and home is only 1/2 mile away. Maybe I'll be creative and make myself walk to/from home for those potty breaks. it will help get my steps in...lol as well as keep me away from the treats and goodies for an extended period of time. That's a new thought, but it may be something to consider. Going to have to give that some thought (schedule timers for potty breaks)
I will admit - I am LOVING seeing all of the activity we're now experiencing!! I'm really hoping everyone is able to stay committed.
Oh -have you guys seen the new fb devices?? I'm intrigued. I dislike watches and such, but this might be enough to sway me....thoughts?
hubby due home any minute and I'm ready for bed.

Nothing to shout about. I'm still in the 3-4 pound area that I'm having trouble busting out of. But I will. I almost said "that I can't get of," but I modified that. I can. I just have to focus a little more. I walked more than 10,000 steps three days last week. (Thanks for the push Kelly.) One of those was more than 14,000 steps. And on a fourth day, I almost made it with more than 9855.
The thing that killed me was Friday, when I did volunteer work and had to work at my job until time to race off. Got in a little less than 4,000 steps that day.
Lois, I can just envision you jogging a half mile to go to the ladies.

got to keep it short since I posted in the other thread... just not enough hours in the day and I need to head in to work early to finish what I didn't have time to finish yesterday before today gets started. Uggh. Should improve soon though... I hope.
Last wt= 180.2, TW=179.0 reflecting 1.2 lbs. Happy with that and intend to watch the trend of 1 lb/wk continue...
Good for both of you with the loss- even though small, it was in the right direction. LOL and yikes to Lois for her grill story and the jog to home's potty breaks planned for Saturday. I like that, LOL. Pack something healthy and light for snacks/eats that you can pull out when the temptation gets too much. What kind of things can you think of that will work for your lunch or will you grab it when you are home for that short potty break?
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail...0 -
Light - AWESOME JOB!!! So proud of you!! And thanks for the encouragement...and you are so right - If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.. That's where my preparing of food for the week comes in handy.
Sheesh - a half pound for your size and weight is AWESOME!!! Congratulations and stay focused. Remember that a half pound a week is 26 pounds in a year!!!
So I shared my potty thought process with hubby and he about busted a gut. He thinks it will work for a morning break, but reminded me how much water I do drink, especially when hiking/walking and that I'll need to turn right around to pee again by the time I get back to the park. ah well...
The food is going to run the gammut of opportunities. We are expecting 150+ people and all nationalities. Grilled burgers and dogs are the staple, it's going to be the home made empanadas, egg rolls, and unique specialty foods that are my weakness - oh and this one mom's brownies (hoping she doesn't come - haha). I am also thinking of possibly skipping out on part of the picnic and go watch my trainer's daughter play volleyball. Though I do enjoy visiting with some of the other families.... I am going to have my normal breakfasts to help keep my eating in line. Also packing my cheese rounds and almonds and paleo bar.
Hoping everyone has a safe and happy halloween tomorrow. Hoping to have great turnout of ghosts and goblins at our house tomorrow for some awesome treats!!!0 -

A loss of .6lbs but I'll take it. Sorry I didn't get to post until today, but it was a weird couple days for me. I stayed at my parents place on Tuesday, so had to use their scale to weigh in yesterday morning. I'm guessing it's a bit different than my scale, but it still showed a loss, so I'll own it. I have to admit that for the past few days, I haven't been logging my food. Fell off the wagon a bit, but I'll get back on it now.
Sheesh - I'd love for you to post your 20 minute weight lifting routine! I'm curious to know what you do and would like a starting point.
I'm back at work today... so watch out.. here comes the steps!0 -
Light, you're doing an awesome job. Because I also battle the long work hours and desk time, I really appreciate how hard it is for you to lose more than a pound in a week. And Lois and Kelly, we're at least moving in the right direction this week. Kelly your nudge to me about the steps helped, so I'm going to nudge back and remind you that we can't afford not to log. Looks like Sheesh is still with out-of-town, but looking forward to hearing from her, too. When you do, Sheesh, woo-hoo to the Giants for winning for the World Series. I loved watching all the games. Now what do I do? (Oh, yeah--move my behind!!)

Ok... I'm back to logging my food today and I woke up at 5am to walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill. Time to get moving ladies!0

Got through Halloween evening without hitting the chocolate, but the urge got to me last night. Those miniature Almond Joy's just called my name. Add to that that I didn't realize how many calories are in apple cider and that a mug I thought was around 10 ounces is, in reality, almost 14 ounces, and I had a surplus of calories yesterday for the first time in a long, long time. But I made myself log everything down to the extra ounces of cider, and I'll see what I can do to make that up during the next few days.
Kelly, I'm experiencing a little of that crankiness that you mentioned. For some reason, my mind keeps drifting to things that irritate me or concern me, and I need to do the things I know will change that frame of mind. One thing that helps me is just telling on myself, so when I logged my evening food and uploaded, I decided to pop over here and do just that.
Light and Lois, I'm envying your warm temps as I watch the cold wind blowing through the trees today. Temps will go back up a bit mid-week, but it's heavier jackets and gloves here today.
Sheesh--where are you????

Sarah - I did the exact same thing when I was in my bad mood. I came on here and tattled on myself. In the end, I was probably cranky mostly at myself for eating more than I should have, but I felt better after letting everyone know what I did and then getting it in my mind that I was going to fix it and pay for it over the next few days.
It's chilly here too.-2C here this morning, which is 28.4F. Stay warm girl!0 -
Well, I stayed completely away from the candies (didn't even buy it) but we had a pot luck meal for the two floats that were helping out at the office while 2 regular gals were out- a thank you/good bye meal. Ate fairly good except I did eat too much and it was loaded with more salt than I had expected. I was NOT good yesterday with the salt either but I am back to the plan today. I have a couple pounds water weight to show for my indescretion
And I didn't get the extra walking in Fri or Sat either so now Lois is really far ahead of me and gloating
Ah, but today is another day... and tomorrow is a clean slate to write on.
Our temps are warm by your standards but they are cold by ours
Sweaters and jackets get pulled out when we are in the 60's and low 70's. Feels brisk and nice for a change but wouldn't want it any cooler...

Happy Monday, Ladies. I'm starting out the day a little frustrated (just uploaded my bugg). didn't get to walk on Friday because work was too busy for me to get a break during the day, and we gave out candy during the short time I had between work and volunteer work. I had hoped to make it up over the weekend, but ended up only walking for an hour each day in the mall, so my step count is not going to reach anywhere near an average of 10,000 steps per day. Saturday we took a drive to just get out of the house. When you work from home, staying in all weekend too makes the walls close in. We had hoped to do a weekend trip to walk the grounds at Longwood Gardens and see the mums, but cold wind and rain nixed that! I thought I'd at least get in two walks yesterday, but a household emergency came up (water in the basement from a plugged pipe). So I spent time moving things so Roto-Rooter could come in and do their thing, but the steps doing that were limited. All I can say is paying Sunday rates to have pipes and drains cleared is a big, big ouch!
I'm continuing to fight low energy and feeling cranky and negative. I just mentioned it to hubby who said it's probably a combination of less daylight, stress at work (a lot of my coworkers are temporarily moved to work on a high priority issue and the rest of us must keep tasks moving) and--wait for it--getting older. Yep--he had the nerve!

Light - Good job on staying away from the candies. I managed to do the same, but still ate too much too.
My step counts are high, so I'm hoping that will help with the weight this week. I guess we'll see on Wednesday.
Sarah - I really think the low energy and crankiness for me is stemming from it being the start of winter. We haven't seen a lot of sunny days lately and I'm just guessing that has something to do with it. I try to read positive news articles and walk more to bring up my mood and not emotionally eat... cause I'm bad for that.
Anywho.. I hope you all have a good Monday!0 -
Well Ladies - I STUNK this weekend. Oh I ate all of the wrong things and boy is the scale going to stink tomorrow (as it did this morning as well). Halloween I was guilty of, yep - one Almond Joy. I was happy after that. Saturday the taekwondo school had the annual picnic and Hubby and I have always been the ones to be at the park at 6am to secure the ramadas, clean it up, get the tables set up and covered. All went according to plan. Then at 8 another instructor showed up and off we went to starbucks. and yep, I ordered a venti chai tea!!! It was DELICIOUS!! Then I left for an hour and worked out with my trainer to come back to tons of different foods. Had a couple of burgers (6am and didn't leave park until 5pm). I was disappointed in the lack of salads and variety of foods this year, so I mainly picked at the burgers. Until the end of the night when we were clearing the food and giving everything away. One mom makes this amazing pie - and I had instructions to bring home her dishes. Sadly, no one really partook of that pie and hubby put it in the car. And yep, we snacked on it last night. I ate almost a whole piece.
I did get myself on track yesterday and got the chicken grilled, eggs boiled and bacon cooked for the week. I picked up the salad greens on my way into work this morning. Seriously need to be back on track!!
The FABULOUS news I have - ortho gave me a coritisone shot in the knee last week, therapy worked on it Friday afternoon and I hiked yesterday WITHOUT PAIN or DISCOMFORT!! Oh my goodness. Great weather to be able to get back on the trails (sorry Sarah and Kelly but yesterday's weather was amazingly beautiful). It was too chilly for shorts, but yoga pants and a tech T were perfect!!!
Clothes are packed for a week full of workouts!!! Let's get focused. I want to be at 175 by Nov 22!!0 -
Psshhhh too chilly for shorts... {insert eye roll here}

It snowed 5 cms here today...0 -

So no matter how chilly it is here, Kelly, Maryland cannot compete with Canada with cool fall temps. Rats! I'll have to remember that when I complain about it being cold for outdoor walking.

As predicted, the thermometer rose here a bit today, but work was so busy, I didn't get out until after 7 p.m. tonight. My legs were hurting all day, so tonight I decided to give a business at the mall that seems to be struggling a little business. It's a massage and acupressure place that has been advertising "specials." I thought what the heck. I can do a half hour and still have time to walk tonight. Hubby was out for the evening, so I decided I might as well stay until the mall closed at 9 p.m.
I wasn't prepared for this type of massage, though. It was a clothed massage that was very different from the Swedish massages I'm used to. The acupressure part essentially means that someone is pushing a knuckle into you pretty darned hard. After 20 minutes, I had had enough! The couple who run the "spa" don't speak a word of English, so I wasn't able to explain, so I cut my session 10 minutes short. But what the heck. I tried, and one thing I'm guilty of is not taking chances. Hopefully I won't be too sore tomorrow from all the rubbing and poking!
My biggest challenge today has been sodium. Hubby cooked a venison meatloaf which is low fat, but the menu analysis shows it's very high in sodium. Even my 1% milk has more than 50 mg of sodium per cupful! Fortunately, I logged my food before I actually ate it, so I was able to pare down the portion.
Goodnight to all, and hope there's a good Tuesday ahead.0 -

There's a picture of our "Fall"
We're full on winter now. This snow isn't going anywhere. That's a view from my office window. 0 -
Oh BBRRRR.... Today we are hitting 74 and I've got the cutest 3/4 sleeve sweater on. HAHAHAHAHAHA! Just giving ya grief!!0
-
lol it's all good. It's winter.. so it's just going to get colder now. -10 C this morning.0
