Ok, I am trying this thread again and hopefully it will have more success. I had a horrid October and need desperately to get back on track. I did not log or exercise at all, and I had a week of binge eating because the month was so hectic and stressful.

I thought 380lbs was my highest weight ever, a month ago....well, now I am 392.8. Time for this to stop. My DR warned me just over a month ago, that the increase in my meds might mean an increase in weight and that I better amp up my exercise.

My goal for this week is to log 100% of the time....this is a huge struggle for me, and I have no idea why.....does anyone else struggle just to do this? Also, by the end of this week I need to get some exercise in. Today I am working a double because I have to take tomorrow and the next day off as I am having a colonscopy Wednesday morning. So I cannot work out until Thursday.....but at least I have a goal in mind.....I am meeting a friend after work for dinner, but will make sure I at least get in a walk after dinner or maybe in the morning before work that day. And then plan to make my way back into the gym Saturday.

What is everyone else's goals this week? Does anyone else have a hard time committing just to logging food?

Off topic, anyone have a colonscopy?? I am kinda freaking out about it now because it is so close, I even had a nightmare last night!!!

I am here and I need to get my butt back in. I haven't been tracking all the time or even working out. I need get my stuff together, do small goals my mini goal is to track everything today and tomorrow. and to go to my 2 gym classes today.

I also have never had a colonscopy done so I can't help much with that.

Those are great goals. Regarding logging everyday, it gets easier once you learn what works best for you. What works for me is logging everything in the morning and adding/subtracting throughout the day if necessary.

My goal this week is to walk everyday.

walking every day is a great goal. I do the walk around the pounds on youtube some times when its to cold or it's raining out. its a nice change.

Today was not bad...and I logged everything!! I went over by 157 calories, but I figured seeing as tomorrow I am only going to eat about 400 calories and then fast for over 24 hours, I am sure the week will balance out, lol

How did you guys do with your goals today??

well I didn't get to go to my two classes, they were canceled because they are using our gym for voting so they set things up, but I did a walk around the pounds 2 miles video on you tube, and my food wasn't to bad. today I'm going to do another walk away the pounds video and keep in line with food.

    So how is everyone doing?
  • I just got hold of this thread today, so I'm a bit late to the party, but I am recovering from tonsillitis which means I didn't get much exercise over the past few days. Then again, I could barely eat anything either; swollen tonsils don't allow food to go down so easily.

Anyways, my goal since I'm getting on the up and up is to work my way back into my regular routine. I'm always a fan of flexibility especially with my goals; I still want to celebrate what I've accomplished even it wasn't right on the money, ya know? So I'm thinking if I can do at least one strength training session and one cardio session before Monday, I'll be doing pretty good, even though I'd prefer one strength training and 2-3 cardio sessions, I feel the first is a bit more reasonable since my body is still recovering a bit.

I'll try to log back in tomorrow to let y'all know how it's going at that point. :)

Better late than never!!! I am gonna try and keep these threads going for the next few weeks again and see if they catch on because I find they really help me out, personally, to be accountable. I am sure there are others like me.

This week has been ok....I have been logging, for the most part....and with the DRs ok (hopefully), gonna to add back in some working out very soon. I have a bad wound on my leg, and I am a type one diabetic so I have to be very careful about it....it has sucked up a lot of my time this week just caring for it.....

How about the rest of you, how are your goals for the week going?

Halloween candy - damn you! I have done better than in years past, when I would just eat and eat and eat. I have been limiting myself to about 3 fun sizes a day. But it puts me right up to my calorie goal, where I would usually be under by a couple hundred. I think I'm going to take what is left and donate it to the church food pantry.
  • I did not work out today; stupid work called me in, so my day of working out and house cleaning went out the window. Oh well, I'll do it tomorrow morning.

My calorie intake is going well; still recovering from tonsillitis so my appetite isn't completely back yet. I've still been logging all the food intake though, so that's a plus.

@unkown_sister: I hope the foot gets better soon. I know foot care is extremely important especially if you have diabetes; I'm sure you're doing great though, and it will heal soon.

@shballa: 3 fun sizes is usually my limit in a day too when they are available. I was very particular in not keeping candy in the house after Halloween, but I don't have kids. There's a ton of candy floating around the office at work though, so I just keep it out of mine. It forces me to go get from a coworker's office, which is fine by me. I like an excuse every now and then to visit with a coworker. Donating your leftover candy to the church food pantry sounds like a wonderful way to give back and get the temptation away. :)

I walked to and from work everyday this week with the exception of Thursday since I telecommuted. Yesterday I noticed how much easier it is walking home. Since a good portion of it is uphill, I used to dread it everyday. It was a very nice NSV. I didn't go to the gym since I'm still getting used to all the walking, but I really want to get back there next week, even if it's just once or twice. I'm glad I gave myself time to get used to all this walking though.

Hi everyone and thank you for starting this thread again! I had a less than stellar October myself so I appreciate the nudge to refocus my efforts. I have been coping with shingles and a torn ligament in my knee the last 3 weeks. I commit to logging daily (I like the idea of logging everything in am and then editing it as needed so will try that).

tophravila - thank you, my leg is finally looking like it is starting to heal....I have been diabetic over 25 years so things like that can get really scary....
Did you get your tonsils taken out?

jitheis - I agree, these kinds of threads help me make better choices -most of the time- because I know I can write about them here!! I am gonna start one every week for the next several weeks....I got discouraged last night because nobody was posting....but if people like a discussion thread, like I do, hopefully it will last....\

I want us to be able to discuss not only goals, but even things that are happening in our lives, because as each of us knows, that also affects how well, or not, we are doing.

I did well this week, the only day I did not log was yesterday.....and I did overindulge a bit, but made sure I didn't keep going, so I am happy about that.....

  • Hey! Didn't get a chance to log in last night; got caught up in studying and reading. I did not work out this weekend, but it's okay. I'm jumping back on the bandwagon this morning, and I'm glad I can do so without sickness.

unknown_sister: I did not get my tonsils out, yet. That's definitely going to be a later discussion with the doctor. As for scary foot things while diabetic, having had two grandmothers die due to complications with their diabetes, yes, it is very scary! But, if you keep pushing towards a healthier you, I'm sure your future will be much brighter.
