Hi Everyone, I'm home now. The surgeon told the nurse that my surgery went perfectly. I am doing very well considering I just had surgery. I anticipated the pain and nausea to be much worse the first few days. I do take pain medication in the evening when my pain tolerance is lower.
When I spoke with one of the two surgeons who operated on me, she said that when they stapling the bottom part of the stomach it was more challenging, she described it as thicker. She assured me that they worked on it for awhile and did a leak test and that it went great.
I didn't feel well enough to be discharged the next day and I my surgeon was fine with keeping me for two days.
A friend picked me up and stayed over with me the first night. I was grateful for that.
I have been quite tired today after the events of surgery and the hospital over. It was so nice to take a shower at home and sleep in my own bed.
I am quite tired tonight so I logged my calories early and I'm gonna go and lay down and watch the NHL hockey game of my home team, the Winnipeg Jets.
Thanks so much for all of your encouragement along and way and especially the last few weeks as the anxiety started to built a bit more. I have not had any regrets along the way. Of course I look forward to being able to eat some "real food" protein one day, but for now I'm good with my main staples of Isopure, Boost Diabetic Shakes, Ensure Protein shakes, Sugar Free Jello, broth and adding protein powder to some of those foods. It's a very small price to pay for freedom and HOPE. Wishing you all a great weekend.

Oh I am so glad to read this my friend. Really brought a tear to my eye as you have worked so hard to get to where you are with some big challenges along the way. I wont say your journey is beginning because you started this one months ago but a new leg of this journey awaits you and it will be so rewarding. Rest, take it easy and heal. I know solid food will seem a thousand miles away but it will come soon enough. So excited for you. You deserve for everything to be amazing. (*)0

So happy it went well. I remember when you first posted here, wondering if all of the hurdles would ever stop and if you could do it. Your attitude has changed so much for the positive and you are absolutely ready for whatever lies ahead! The next few months will be very exciting!

Thanks very much for your good wishes and encouraging words everyone. My incisions are starting to itch now but I'm guessing that is normal for this stage of recovery. I see my GP on Wednesday as my sodium and potassium were low and I want to keep an eye on it. Will keep you posted. Have a great week everyone.0

So glad that your surgery went well. You are already through the first four days post-op, these were the hardest ones for me. Rest as much as you can when you need to. I found I needed to take a small nap everyday for the first 10 days after surgery. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post-op and I finally feel like myself again.0

Yay, I am so glad to hear you are doing well. As my surgery is on Wednesday, I snooped on your food diary to get some ideas for how I want to handle my intake after surgery. It was very helpful, so I hope you don't mind Stay well and smiling. This is such an exciting journey you have started.0

So glad all went well for you. You must be on clear liquids yet? I am on day 11postop and doing well. I am working on getting in 64 oz of fluids I and 50-80 gr of protein a day. I can eat about 2oz at a time. Rest and sip!0
