I tried eating my hummus today with cucumber instead of crackers to cut back a bit more on carbs. UGH--heartburn now. I am not sure if I can handle raw carrots or celery at this point (9 weeks) any suggestions? Thanks, Donna

I found I preferred rice crackers to "regular" flour products, (particularly early on). Still carby, but not quite as bad or as sticky as traditional flour. You may also be able to find specialty products that are protein enhanced. I know Neumans makes a pretzel and I've tried quinoa chips from another vendor.0

TY! I found a flat bread cracker that love with hummus. IO was just thinking of trying to cut back a bit more on the carbs Nabisco Wheat Thins - Flatbread "Tuscan Herb" Crackers, 1 crackers is 30 calories and 6 carbs. I usually have 2 with 2 tbls hummus. The crackers are a few inches long and have a wonderful flavor. I will see what rice cracker are available here. I will also check out the protein enhanced ones...0

If you can tolerate dairy - I have made "crackers" with grated parmesan cheese. Put it by the tablespoon into a nonstick pan, it will start to melt, you can flatten them, and carefully flip them so they get brown, and after you take them out and let them cool off, they are nice and crispy. About 30 calories per tablespoon, and no carbs.0

Ty --I was reading yesterday about the crackers made with cheese. I will be trying them--0

I try to avoid crackers because they are my downfall! That being said, I've heard good things recently about Quest protein "chips" that are supposed to taste like potato chips. Maybe that would be something to try?0

Thanks Kate--I just read a post about the Quest chips too--I plan on trying them!0

I also read about these chips on another thread!
I am sooo interested, #1 as another way to get my protein #2 a portable way to get my protein!
I have some bars that I started collecting pre-op that Ive picked up here and there as I find coupons/sales on them.
My other "obligation" is getting bars that can pass my surgeons approval, staying under X amount of cals and sugar and yet still having an appropriate amount of protein in each 1.
I cant have these yet so Im sure the chips would fall into this time frame but when I am able to incorporate them, it would be nice to have 1 more option to the limited 1's I already have
Do local stores carry these chips or just GNC?
My husband stopped by 1 of our stores yesterday and said they didn't carry them0 -

Fiber Gourmet 1/2 calorie crackers are the bomb. 70 calories, 4gms protein and 10g of fiber for an ounce. Which is actually a lot and delicious with a wedge of Laughing Cow. I order from netrition.com.0

I tried the Quest protein chips today (GNC had a sale buy 3 get 1 free) I had the sour cream
They were good for the crunch factor ( I crave crunch) and great for the protein 21 protein 120 calories per bag. They were not as good as the old fat filled chips --before surgery but they did satisfy the munchies for me and gave me a boost for the day in protein. They were $2.84 a bag but online they are cheaper. (Then you also have the shipping cost) I saw posted in another group that the Vitamin Shoppe also sells them. And other sites on line have them.0 -
I looked up that Vitamin store...we have 3 but the closest 1 is 2 hrs away
I will have to keep this on my mind and try to find them when Im out in that area...maybe here in a few weeks when Im holiday shopping.0 -
Kashi has a higher in protein garlic pita crisp that isn't horrible.0

I ordered 2 boxes (BBQ--and Cheddar) from The vitamin shoppe. If you join the site you get 10% off coupon sent to your email. This brings the price to $32.38 (FREE SHIPPING) for 16 bags @ 2.03 a bag ( better than what I paid at GNC They were $2.84 a bag. I stopped at another GNC yesterday that is a family owned store and they were $2.99 a bag!
(I am a GNC member and this price beats the member price)0
