Were you eating less and also maintaining weight?0

So think about the logic there then of original question.
Your weight was stabilized at 1200.
Was that therefore maintenance and time to take a cut?
How do you know it wasn't really maintenance?
You ate more, and even if a little initial gain, you still stabilized and maintained eating more.
So therefore, how do you prove if this increased eating level is really maintenance?0 -

Well, before when I would increase my calories my weight would jump up very quickly but now if I do my weight just gains very slowly going a little above my calculated TDEE. I wasn't sure how long I need to stay at TDEE if I have been increasing for months.0 -
So how long has your body been truly unstressed with no diet or deficit in place?
And, if you think your body has been unstressed for some of this period of increase, why didn't you start losing weight at some point in the increase, when you might think you still had a deficit in place from your estimated TDEE?
The answer to the question of how did you know 1200 wasn't maintenance - you ate more, and didn't keep gaining.
How do you prove if current eating level is or is not maintenence?
You eat more.
I know many in the EM2WL community will tell you that if you are itching to take your deficit - you have not reset long enough.
Anyway, do the 2 week 250 test if you think your are at maintenance right now.
Eat 250 more daily for 2 weeks. Start and end with valid weigh-in days.
You should only gain slowly 1 whole pound, that's it.
Reread that.
If you gain more or faster, you topped off glucose stores that should not have been available to top off - if you had really been eating at maintenance, so proving you were in deficit still.
If you gain none, then body sped up even more and was still suppressed at lower level.
That means another 2 week 250 test yet higher.0 -
Hi there...I agree with Heybales...don't rush the cut. I'm not sure how long you have been eating at TDEE (or what you believe is TDEE) but for a reset, we suggest that once you reach your TDEE, eat there for a minimum of 8-12 weeks. That seems like a long time, but really it's not. Your body and metabolism need that time to heal. We also suggest pushing your TDEE number, like Heybales said, and his 2 week 250 test is a great way to test this. You want to find your body's full burning potential before you start a cut. If you can go higher and eat more and still maintain, then do it! Welcome, and great job on increasing your calories.0
