OK...So a 1.8 GAIN for the holiday. It's not as high as it was on Saturday so I am EXCITED!!! Now to get back down and hold through Christmas. Challenging, but a bit easier than Thanksgiving as I won't have a house full of people staying with me and I'm not hosting dinner...so beef stew for Christmas Eve and NO manicotti for Christmas Day!! SWEET!!!

Let's get our post Thanksgiving stats in and game plan our success for the next 32 days.

I did stop at the store and complete my shopping post workout last night. Grilled a couple of my chicken breasts before showering (the others were still frozen and I didn't want to wait for them to defrost - they will be grilled on Wed night). Shop and prepare my food is my goal for continued success! What's yours?

    Lost 1/2 a pound! Better than up!
    So I sent in my nutrition questionnaire, my workout questionnaire, my 2 day food journal, and the pictures of myself. SCARY... I had to stand there in a sports bra and underwear and take selfies.. not pleasant.. especially at 5am. I had been putting it off..but this morning I just sucked it up and did it. Gotta start somewhere! I'm looking forward to seeing what she sends me for my plans. I'm not sure who asked me the questions about it, but I don't actually go to see her and it's all done online. I'll try this first and see if I can manage on my own.

    My goal for the week...is to stop eating so much! That particular time of the month I just like to load up on carbs for some reason. I'm really going to try and focus on what I'm eating and how much I'm eating.

    I'm headed home tomorrow, then off to Fargo, ND for some shopping with 3 girlfriends this weekend. I'm sure bad food will be consumed, I just hope I can keep a handle on how much I'm eating.

    Lois - 1.8 gain isn't horrible.. but not awesome either.. I know. Bounce back and get back into routine. Sounds like you have a good plan to do just that!

    Hi, Ladies. Here goes for me:

    SW: 155
    LW: 146.6
    TW: 144.8

    I'm really proud of that, given that this past seven-day period included Thanksgiving. But while I did well with getting the carbs down a bit and increasing my average daily burn, I'm still struggling with sodium. I did a 7 day comparison for last week and the week before that, and here's the daily averages of some of the key things:

    Nov 19-25 Nov 26-Dec 2
    Burn = 1827 Burn = 1871
    Intake = 1368 Intake = 1229
    Deficit = 459 Deficit = 642
    Activity = 67 min Activity = 72 min
    Steps = 6474 Steps = 6441
    Carbs = 159 Carbs = 137
    Sodium = 1944 Sodium = 2059

    I think steps were affected by cooking instead of walking Wednesday night before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving, and sodium may have been affected by some of the foods I ate that day. BUT--and this is a bit but, I have something coming up this weekend that is going to affect my activity and my food intake, so it's not just an occasional holiday--it's life itself that I have to learn to accommodate.

    Well, work calls. I started early this morning, so was able to take a break to post, but it's meetings and pedal-to-the-metal for the rest of the day. Hope everyone has a great day.

    Wow. Things look different after you hit submit. Sorry ladies. The info for the two 7 days periods looked like they were going to be in columns--not all mushed together.

    Sarah, I didn't consider it a problem to see the stats "mushed" like that. You did very well this past week :) Congratulations and good luck this coming weekend. You did better than I did in spite of trying to watch what I was eating. My carbs and calories were up and so was my weight.

    I went from average 907 net calories to 1142 net calories, 89 carbs to 102 carbs and from 38g fat to 107 fat (how did THAT happen?) and from 176.0 to 177.0 No secret as to what caused that, imo. I will have to get back to my meal plan and stick to it while watching those carbs and fats. They do sneak up on me...

    Kelly, congrats on this week's loss. You did well to lose over the holiday, too :) I'll be interested in how you do with your advisor. Good luck with it all and keep moving when you get back home :)

    Lois, good that you are down a bit from this weekend and that you are already focused on how you will proceed this coming week. :)

    Sheesh must be having a LOT of fun as her steps are like mine when I get off work- nearly nonexistent, LOL. Lots of time sitting and playing or holding those precious grandbabies is what I am imagining :) I miss that but it is what it is.

    And now, what it is is time for me to pack the lunchbox, get dressed and get out of here to work. The weekend is right around the corner and I couldn't be more anxious for it to get here...

    Hi all! I ended up with my brother and his wife, my daughter, as well as my son, DIL, granddaughter and us for Thanksgiving dinner. Additional stress came when my daughter was in a pretty bad auto accident on the freeway. She was totally stopped in a traffic jam . . stupid driver sped up on jam to her left, slammed and swerved into her rear driver side, spun her car across 4 lanes where she ended up facing oncoming traffic! It was sheer luck that she didn't get hit again. Police and EMTs came. She's okay, just a mild concussion and bumps and bruises . . no cuts. Her car had a broken axel, and pretty banged up. Totaled would be worth 5K, but fixable for 4K, so she's fixing it because she can't afford a car payment for a newer car. Had to get her a rental to drive to work. Hassles with insurance companies! Hassles with retirement issues (health insurance, 401K rollover, pension, etc. ARGH!!!) Add to that, year end doc apts, prescriptions, and my doc found a lump in my breast that I need to get checked with a diagnostic mammogram!! :s Holy crap.

    Additionally, son and DIL, and granddaughter are coming in tonight at 11:45 pm for a wedding their attending this weekend. Then, we fly to Boise to babysit for a few days, then on the 20th EVERYONE comes for Xmas for a week. I love my family, and wish I could just focus on them and not have all the other pressures, but . . . that's life. One day at a time.

    My fitbit has been acting up, too. I left it on the charger 1/2 day yesterday and all night, and it still shows not a full charge. Boo. Needless to say, I've been getting my exercise only from trying to keep up, and getting my shopping done. That being said:

    SW: 156
    Last weigh-in: 137.2
    Today: 138
    Goal weight: 120 - 125

    Not bad, considering I haven't been logging or really working out.

    Lois, game plan for me is to just make good choices over the next week or so, and get some exercise where I can, ha ha!! Then, I'll re-set on Dec 27 when my house is quiet again.

    Sarah, your stats look good to me. I agree with light and her friend that lower carb is better at our age, and it looks like you did well on a bit lower. I lose best when I don't go over 100 g carbs (especially anything white . . sugar, potatoes, white bread, white rice) Congrats on the loss!

    Kelly, good for you getting a trainer! I really miss mine. And, congrats on winning the challenge!! And not just winning . . . blowing it away! :D

    Light, you are so focused! I envy your discipline and stick-to-itive-ness :D

    I hope I'll be able to accomplish something with weight loss and workouts over the next few weeks! I'll post when I can get on the computer, LOL!! Take care.

    gee, how scary for your daughter...glad she wasn't hurt worse. Stupid driver not paying any attention >:( and what a pile of stress with everything else going on in your life, both happy and not. Sorry to hear about your lump but glad it was discovered and you will be able to get it checkrd out. Hoping for a good report.

    Glad you were able to enjoy so much family... sounds like life is going to be a whirlwind between now and New Years for you. Don't get lost in all the busy...

    Oh gosh, Sheesh. Life does keep happening, doesn't it? I'm so glad no one else hit your daughter and the injuries are not too bad. I'll be thinking about you and yours and sending you good, positive vibes!

    Try not to worry too much about the exam. A good girl friend that I'm spending time with this weekend has a breast biopsy Monday because of some clustered calcification. Seems like so many people have to go get retested. I've been through it before, too, and thankfully was okay. I think it's good the docs are always so cautious.

    Wish me luck everyone, as my weekend plans are going to make food and activity a challenge. I'll report back on Sunday night. Hope you all have a great weekend. And thanks everyone for your recent feedback. I think that's why I managed to lose a pound during Thanksgiving week. :smile:

    Oh Sheesh!!! My heart and prayers go out to you and your family. So happy your daughter's going to be ok...AND SO WILL YOU!!! And Good Luck with having everyone home. So much fun, so much stress, work and of course, food choices. Remember to prepare some healthy Go To snacks BEFORE everyone arrives, so that they are readily available.

    Sarah, I'm still feeling like you need to include weight training. you've been doing the walking thing for so long that it's probably not that much of a challenge to your body and you're probably not burning the calories that you used to. Pack some healthy and filling snacks so you don't over indulge on the other goodies.

    Kelly - I'd take that 1/2 lb loss!!! I just sent my weigh in to my trainer and I'm up just over 1/2 pound from the Friday before Thanksgiving, but down one pound from the Friday after Thanksgiving. Happy I'm headed back in the right direction

    I had a hair appt on Tuesday and my hairdresser's new dog sets off my allergies something fierce...at least I thought that's what it was. I'm still coughing and yucky so I'm fearing I'm coming down with the crappy cold everyone else has been suffering from. Almost stayed home today I feel that yucky. I have a couple of major projects I need to work on today and that's basically the only reason I'm here. Hoping I make it through the day, but I may be cancelling tomorrow's morning workouts.

    Stay focused and plan for our own upcoming challenges.

    Just taking a quick peek at the boards before the day really gets crazy. I always pay for taking a day off. We traveled to the Delaware shore on Friday with good friends to attend a holiday house tour on Saturday and dine at a very nice restaurant on Saturday evening. This is an annual jaunt, and we usually go after work on Friday, but this year, we took Friday off so we could avoid hitting the DC area rush hour, which is usually worse on Friday with people coming into and leaving the city for the weekend. The husband of the couple has some physical limitations, so places were would normally walk to, we drive to when we're with them. Also this year, the houses on the tour were further apart and it was raining, so I didn't get as much activity in as I would have liked. Also, the wife in this couple had a foot problem this time, too, so we did a lot of sitting in the condo chatting. But they're good friends and we enjoyed time alone with them. I hope I can do some catch up in the next couple of days. My intake was not too bad. I had small deficits every day, but not the 600+ calories I was managing to do before we left.

    Lois, you'll be happy to know that the walking video I have been using to supplement the mall walks includes some hand-weight exercises. If my shoulder doesn't flare up with these, then I'm going to include more weight work into my routine. I'm focusing on the "if nothing changes, nothing changes" mantra.

    I came home very grateful to be able to be as active as I am now able to be. Seeing people who cannot move as much as I can, makes me realize how fortunate I am, and I hope this will help keep me motivated. You never know when your circumstances might change. We arrived home last night around 5:30, and the mall was open an hour later (until 7) because of the holidays, so you all will be proud to know that I immediately put on my walking shoes and dashed out for an hour walk before even bothering to get all the stuff out of the car and unpack. An added treat was it was "have your pets picture made with Santa" night, so there were doggies in Christmas sweaters to watch when I was in that area. And who doesn't smile when they see a Chihuahua mix wearing a Santa hat, or golden retriever carrying his favorite stuffed bunny?

    Sheesh, you and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers.

    Hope everyone has a good Monday!
