A couple of weeks ago my Fitbit stop automatically syncing to MFP unless I disconnected Fitbit and reconnected several times. It almost never automatically syncing anymore like it should. Any help or suggestions?

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting on the Fitbit side? I was having the same issue and Fitbit instructed me to disconnect on both sites and then reconnect. It worked after that.

From Fitbit.com go to Settings>Applications and then click "revoke access." Then come back to MFP and connect again.

I'm having trouble, too -- as of the past few hours (and this after having my Fitbit connected for the past 18 months or so). I think there was a Fitbit app update yesterday (because some of the stuff on my dashboard changed). I'm blaming my problems on that. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting (it's worked for me on other occasions), but it doesn't seem to be working this time.

My Aria scale hasn't posted anything to MFP since the second, and it won't update healthvault at all. Thinking of trashing the damn scale and buying someone elses, I've had SOOOOO many problems with fitbit syncing to other apps. My zip always had these problems too.

That doesn't seem to be working tonight, unfortunately -- I've tried it twice. After over three years with a Fitbit, however, I've learned to be patient.

Hmm I went and checked and I'm having the same issue. Maybe it's a glitch. Like you said, they usually work that stuff out eventually.

Grrrrr... At least I know I'm not alone. I've tried disconnecting numerous times on both sides with no luck.

Me too! I don't want to disconnect, though... I've learned you can't go back and resync data from before that date.

I had an issue the other night, my positive adjustment in MFP disappeared, from food log and exercise diary.

Fitbit side still had the high calorie burn from a workout, the math between their daily burn and MFP daily maintenance was still the adjustment amount, but it was gone.

This was after midnight, I had a tad bit more to eat.

The prior day still showed it's adjustment, the new day after midnight showed it's negative adjustment - so syncing in general was fine.

I added a workout in MPF (not my normal method), to the day with the issue.
It synced across to Fitbit, increased the daily burn, and it did NOT come back to MFP for the math.
    So deleted that workout.

Then created a manual workout on Fitbit's site for that day, daily burn increased.
Checked MFP, now the adjustment came across.
Deleted the bogus entry, and the expected adjustment was still there.

This tells me that Fitbit doesn't actually sync across what it thinks is the same information. Which makes sense to cut down on traffic.
If you synced 4 hrs ago, and there are no updates (it was after midnight), then why sync the info again.

There was a bug though probably on MFP side where it lost the info.
And Fitbit wasn't going to sync what it already thought it did. It didn't know MFP lost the info.

So all I can suggest, is when you see flakiness like this, think about where the changes are taking place, or when the last one was.
If it makes sense that one side doesn't think there are any changes, then it won't send an update with same info - assuming that prior info was already received, probably confirmed received actually.

So change something on the Fitbit side, manually log a workout, let it see there was a change. Wait for it to show up on MFP. Then delete the bogus workout.

Of course the extra meal logging IS seeing a change, and sending out the update, with a tag of a new meal in general, then Fitbit doesn't see the need to update what it has - but add to what it has.

I've been having this problem for 2 days. I emailed FitBit yesterday and got an email back telling me how to sync my Fitbit with MFP!! I've been using it for 3 years & syncing with MFP all that time, I think I know how to use it! Its just not working at the moment

I wonder if it's because of the limited surge release. Updating everything over live to support the new device. I get my first fitbit in the mail tomorrow so I too hope it's fixed soon!

MFP tech support does that to me every damn time. Drives me crazy, especially if my message specified exactly what steps I've already taken and then they tell me to complete those exact steps. I guess they probably have a script they have to follow.

Sadly it's that script that prevents them from receiving more detailed info on what does and does not cause the problem, that could give their coders a fighting chance to fix it.

Unless they have it duplicated already and don't need those examples.

anyone else still having syncing issues? Still can't get mine to sync with MFP, despite de-registering and re-registering multiple times.
  • Yes. I am not getting credit for exercise calories on MFP though it is reflecting steps I've taken today in a bar below my diary (which is new to me), but even that isn't accurate; and no exercise credit for those steps. I've been on hiatus for about a month. Did something change? Or just the usual maddening synch issues?

My fitbit doesn't sync until half way through the day (if at all). Any idea why it waits until the afternoon to register on MFP? I checked the time zones on both websites and they are correct.

MFP is doing it's own step thing on app now - so probably not even Fitbit steps.
And it is just info, nothing related to diet/exercise tied to it from what it appears.

It could be that your fitbit is syncing but that fitbit isn't saying you are burning more than MFP. It wont show up in MFP until you are burning more than MFP estimates. If you are fairly sedentary in the morning it would be easy to not see a different until later in the day.

Device is syncing with what? Computer or smartphone app?

It should give timestamp of last sync - does it say it's syncing more often to even have updated data?

The Fitbit calorie burn ONLY registers on MFP as positive adjustment if it's more than MFP estimated you'd burn anyway.

Likely, up until noon, you haven't burned more than MFP figured you'd burn anyway.

Do you have negative calories on MFP enabled? That's one way to find out if it's syncing earlier, you'll get those negative adjustments. Device doesn't even have to sync in that case - because with no device sync, Fitbit figures you've burned BMR only, ie sleeping, and so the calorie burn is rather small.

My fitbit One did not sync correctly today until I just logged off the iphone app and then logged back in. It is now 5pm. I have given up trying to rely on the sync!

the same thing has been happening to me all week. Looking back at my log, it looks like every day, around 5:30pm, it stops automatically synching, so any food that I enter after that isn't synched to Fitbit, and I get no calorie adjustments from Fitbit after that time. The last time it synched after 5:30pm was on Sunday 12/7.

It also seems like it isn't synching properly throughout the day, just now, I had to disconnect/reconnect the app 3 times, and log out 3 times before I finally got it to sync again. We'll see if it does the same thing again today.
I use MFP and Fitbit on the PC so I haven't had any updates, I've done NOTHING differently on my side and I've been using my fitbit with MFP for months without an issue like this.

I noticed that MFP was down the other night for a little while, that may have something to do with it, but this is becoming extremely frustrating, because I have absolutely no idea how many calories I'm supposed to be eating, unless I go to Fitbit Dashboard, see how many calories I've burned and then do the calculation myself - which defeats the ENTIRE purpose of using MFP in the first place.

*NOTE* I have negative calorie adjustments enabled, so I always have a fitbit adjustment in my exercise log, no matter what. But you can view the time it last updated, and every day, all week, it has last updated around 5:30pm.

*Update* Looking again, the problem started for me on Tuesday 12/9, and it appears that it last updated on that day, and every day since, when I noticed there was an issue and disconnected/reconnected to fix it. I got it to sync at that time, and then it never synched again for the rest of the entire day/night. Clearly SOMETHING happened between Mon and Tues that caused this to begin happening. I can't keep disconnecting the app every time I want an update on my calories. That's ridiculous and unacceptable.

Can someone please fix this ASAP?

This is merely a forum - no one seeing your message will be able to work on anything - you'll have to report that good analysis through proper support channels. Make sure you hit Fitbit side too.
    - Because they don't resend data if it appears there has been no changes.

If you go back to one of those days, and enter in bogus workout to increase the daily burn - does the new info show up on MFP for that day then?
