I CANNOT believe that! I mean I sorta still watched what I ate this week (but not majorly).. and I sorta did a bit of exercise (but nothing much more than walking/running) and I still lost?! I'll probably pay for that next week.. but I'll take it.
It's almost a new year ladies! Time to take charge of our lives and be the best we can be

I knew you would, Kelly. Relaxing a little does not entirely derail all of the good changes you are making. You go, girl!0

oh my.... too many goodies, too many grueling 10 hr days at work, no added exercise and the scale shows it. uggh.

Let's see, last post, I mentioned gaining 5 lbs overnight after the office pot luck. Well, the weight has been up and down as the sodium level fluctuates but I am still holding onto most of that weight, largely due to the leftovers and added sweets (my fault, not the pot luck fault). Families sent in some really great goodies and I ate/enjoyed them. It's only once a year and not the end of the world. It does mean, however, that I need to buckle down and work the program.
Now, back on my plan of proper foods, I have spent a good bit of this morning in food prep so that I can have a successful start to the new year and month. I have sworn off any processed foods for the month of January and pledged to get back to the 5000 minimum steps/day... more if I am able.0 -
Happy 2015 everyone. I weighed yesterday, but didn't have time to log. Work was very busy because we had a 2014 deadline on the launch of the redesigned website. I was afraid I would not be able to stop in time to make our early dinner reservation with friends, but we did. We had a lovely dinner at a Latin restaurant, followed by dessert at the home of one of the other two couples. We planned to take a ride to see Christmas lights after that, but was surprised to find that some stupid kids attending a party had parked on both sides of a narrow road, not allowing enough space in between for a car to get through. After neighbors around tried unsuccessfully to find the owners, we finally called the nonemergency police number to let them know that not only where there several cars of people trying to get out of or into the neighborhood, but there was also a potentially serious safety situation. If a regular car couldn't get through, think ambulance or fire truck! It took a while, but we actually enjoyed meeting some of our friends' neighbors who were also trying to get in/out or who saw the activity and came out to investigate.
I did weigh yesterday, however, and here's my sad news:
LW: 143.0
TW: 146.2
My goal for this year is to get to back to 130-132. The waiter took a picture for us last night, and I looked big again. One thing is that the sweater I was wearing and the angle of the picture made me look all boobs! A 5'2" women with a large chest just looks big, and I lost some of the big-chested look when I was 15 pounds lighter.
I know the best way to do this (and feel good) is watch sugar and carbs. Part of the fun of Christmas and New Years is some the holiday foods. But now that's behind us, and I'm ready to focus on lean meats, vegetables, some fruit, and lots of water.
Again, happy new year to you all, and congrats Light and Kelly on your losses.0 -
Happy new year back atcha, Sarah, but I won't claim a weight loss for this week since I'm still up 4 lbs from before Christmas. Somehow it doesn't seem a victory to lose the same pounds over again

I'll claim success when I am back to my preChristmas weight of 175 again...
goals for activity will be met today, as well as the meal entries
Yeah!~ Just wait until next week's weigh in... 0 -
Happy New Year Sassies!! Sorry to be so missing in action. . . whew! What a holiday! Fun, but so darn busy . . and now I'm washing towels, robes (hot tub), bedding galore, cleaning out the fridge, and trying to get back on track. I weighed this morning . . . OMG:

I think I got in two workouts the last two weeks
Hubby and I did our New Year, New Us workout today, and it felt so good! I'm making ham bone, bean and veggie soup to use up some leftovers. Then, it's salads and low carb for me. Knowing how my year goes, I'd better get most of the weight off in the next three months. Come April. . . birthdays, travel, and family start up again, making it more difficult.
You guys have all done really well considering the holidays. Kelly, you are so impressive! You and Lois have kept up the steps and done great! I agree with you that it's time to take charge of our lives and health again.
Sarah, I'm sorry about your Mom and all the challenges that go along with an aging parent. I know how difficult it is. You're a great person, just as Light has said. We need to remember to take care of ourselves too, or we have less to offer our loved ones.
Light, it looks like you're back on track with the logging . . good for you! I wish I was so disciplined. I'm going to do better . .
Lois, I accepted your FitBit challenge, but for some reason the app freezes every time I try to check the progress of those in the challenge. I don't know if it's because I got a new iPhone, or if it's the FitBit app. Anyway, we should do a challenge again soon.
Let's make 2015 a great year for our little group!!0 -
Just checking in. I woke up this morning to a red, swollen eye and blurry vision. I thought it might be conjunctivitis, given the time of year and the fact that I was around children over the holidays. So I called my eye doc and got and appointment for around lunchtime today. But by midmorning the redness and the blurriness was gone, so I cancelled it. The eye is doing better, but stills feel a little scratchy and I have had a headache most of the afternoon, so I'm giving myself permission not to walk tonight. I have my usual Friday night service work, and I'm just not up to racing around. I hope the eye continues to improve and that I wake up feeling more like moving tomorrow. I need to up my burn--not lower it! I did walk yesterday, and since the weekend is here, I should have higher activity for the next two days. I'm counting on you guys to keep pushing me to do more and different things to shake things up and get the scale moving in the right direction in 2015. Sheesh--I figured that you were so busy with family that you hadn't had time to post, but I'm so glad that you back on the board.0

Good Day all!
Sorry, I've been MIA for most of the week. Got back home from my work week and have been busy with friends, shopping, cooking, relaxing, paying bills, etc.
Today, I finally got my new FitBit Aria scale set up.. and I'm liking what I see! I'm not really paying attention to the fat % numbers, as I've heard they aren't accurate, but the lbs are what I'm obviously watching. My official weigh in isn't until tomorrow, so I can't get too excited, plus it's a new scale, so I know there will be a bit of a difference.
I have to admit, I haven't been working out at all...but I have really been watching everything that I've been eating. That seems to do wonders. Hopefully today I can drag myself to the gym and get a workout in. It's WAY too cold outside (getting to -51 with the windchill) to go for a walk
so my step numbers aren't going to be awesome. I hate going to walk at the mall, because then I just buy things lol
Sarah - I hope the eye is feeling better! Maybe makeup or allergies??
Light - Glad to hear your holidays were good
Lois - I love seeing your hiking pictures on Facebook!
Anywho.. I'll check back with you ladies tomorrow!0 -
Hi, all,
I hope you had a good weekend. For some reason, I did not have my usual energy. I don't know if it's a delayed reaction from all the end-of-year stress and the trip to NC, or whether I've encountered some minor bug, or if it's just one of those things. I just didn't have my usual pep, although I did walk both days. In fact, it was warm enough here to walk outside yesterday. So I got a brief break from the mall and got in some hills. I love it when my gluts protest!
It's colder here today, though, and the temps are really taking a dive as the week goes on. Kelly, I know you're laughing, but a high of 24 degrees Fahrenheit (the current prediction for Thursday) is cold for us.
I took a short break to grab something to eat and log, and I was dismayed to see how many grams of sugar a quarter cup of dried cherries contains. Kirkland-brand dried cherries are so good, but with that much natural sugar content, I'll have to treat them like cookies or other sweets, i.e., an occasional treat, but not something to have regularly.
Hubby's prediabetes concerns us both. After seeing older relatives during the holidays, we realize how important it is to do what we can to maximize our health. My plan for the new year includes watching carbs and sugar, too. I looked at the allowance in MFP for sugar, and it's not that much. I'm hitting the limit, and all I've had is those cherries, about 8 ounces of milk, and a whole wheat pita with some cheddar cheese.0 -

OK..I know I weigh in again tomorrow, but that was last week's weight (Yes I am in a PANIC over tomorrow's weigh in). Last week..OMG so much food and drinking and sweets GALORE. I'm dreading the scale!!
It is AWESOME to jump on the board and see what's going on with everyone. Sorry to have been MIA, but if you're friends with me on FB, you 'll see that while I was eating and drinking, I was also hiking, exercising, dancing and just MOVING!!! While I was just under 8k steps yesterday, I am resolving to hit the 10k per day again AND watch what I'm eating.
Kelly - You are so motivating. Here I was cheering about getting out and working out on the mountain at 38degrees and you are NEGATIVE 40!!! Oh Lordy I felt like a wimp after that!
Sarah - as Sheesh has stated, you have to take care of you so you are able to take care of others.
Light - Let's get back down!!! We did it once before, we can and WILL do it again!!!
So here was a scenario that I am totally embarrassed about that happened last night: We've hosted and attended no less than six events in the past week. Between five families, food was taken to each event. Somehow the desserts I brought to leave at, NOT ONE, BUT TWO houses, ended up back at my house for the final event (along with ANOTHER dessert). So..hubby was sweet and called neighbors who have kids and offered them both of the remaining cakes (massive multi layered chocolate and whole red velvet). I have no idea what got into me when they came over that I actually took a chunk of EACH of the cakes before they left, which are now sitting in my fridge. WHY?!?!?!??!?! WHY?!?!?!??!?! WHY?!?!?!??!?! Why did I do that?!??!?!?! I have no explanation. I'm hoping hubby throws it away or gives it away again while I'm at work. I can't beleive I did that.
Sheesh - Ok..my phone kept locking up on me as well. and I accepted your challenge (even though I'm WORKING) but I can't seem to open the app to see status. Then I have to wait a few minutes to get back into the program. It must be the app. I thought it was something with my new iPhone 6Plus. Grrrrr. Fun and yet super frustrating when you can't access. Ok...back to work.
Can't wait to see your updates!!!

Hi all. .
Sarah, how's your eye? Hope that cleared up. Your energy will come back. . I think you're right that there's a let-down after all the holiday stress. I've found I'm sleeping about an hour longer than usual. . ready for bed at 9
Lois, I actually called FitBit today to report the freezing problem on the app. There will probably be an update coming as I believe it's a bug in their system. They said they would notify me when they have a solution. By the way, I can't wait for the Surge to be available! Hey, would you consider being friends with me on Facebook? I want to see all of your fun activities and hikes!
Kelly, I think you're on FB too ? Anyone who wants to friend me, I'm Cynthia Nelson.
Well, I through down the gauntlet, so I guess I'd better go get me some steps!!

Yes, I do still plan to create a nonwork FB page this year, so I can join the fun. And so you can see that I'm not a robot.
