Holy toledo.. that's awesome! As I mentioned in my last post, I got my new FitBit Aria scale and apparently it says I weigh less than I thought! Woot Woot! I knew I lost some weight this week, but clearly not that much. I'm taking it!

Now.. I've been eating great. The eating part is awesome... I just dislike working out. I need someone to kick me in the butt. I went to the gym yesterday, but only mustered up 15 minutes on the elliptical. Lame.. but I guess some is better than nothing. How do you get motivated to workout???

Sheesh - I added you on FB :D

Can't wait to hear how everyone did this week!!

Wow, Kelly. That's wonderful! You can the 130s from there.

Don't weigh-in until tomorrow, but just wanted to say that this sugar thing is alarming. I've been looking at carbs and fat, and didn't realize how much sugar I consume. Some is fruit, but still.....

Got another call from my sister last night. The issues with Mom are really causing her anxiety. So I got to the mall late, but fortunately, I ran into my walking buddy and she was willing to keep me pacing fast for about 45 minutes. It is snowing here this morning (about 2 inches on the ground and still coming down). The plan is to meet my walking buddy again tonight unless she has to work late. The forecast has changed, and now we expect a high in the teens on Thursday with wind chills at 10 below zero F, so I don't think I'll get walk outside again for a while.

Thanks for asking about the eye, Sheesh. I think I got something in it during the night on Thursday night and unconsciously rubbed it, so I scratched the cornea slightly. It bothered me on Friday and Saturday, but it's doing better. (Knock on wood.)

I'm glad to hear that your eye is feeling better.
Yes... The sugar thing has really hit me too. Did you watch the video? The part I find surprising is that, as women, we're only supposed to have 6 teaspoons of sugar per day. That's 20 grams. Now I'm really paying attention to packaged foods because I'd prefer my sugar to come from fruit. Insane... And really hard to stay under 20 grams.
Thanks for checking in! Good luck with walking tonight and the weigh in tomorrow :)

Kelly = GREAT REDUCTION...sadly, I FOUND IT!!! Not unexpected and I believe a portion of it is water retention from the higher sodium foods we'd eaten. Still flushing it out!!!

Yep ladies, as I mentioned before my food coach is really pushing me on keeping my carbs to a low number. Something to think about...they're sneaky!!!

Ok..So I had my measurements updated last night and the news is exciting:

Since Feb 8, 2014, I’ve reduced my weight by 19lbs, 18 of it was fat and 1 was lean mass – Uber excited reducing in the right area. Also, with the holiday weight gain (which I think a PORTION is still water weight from added sodium) I increased my lean mass and not my fat…WOO HOO. Tummy and legs still feel very bloated but still showing an impressive reduction by my standards. BMI also down 6.3!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my trainer and food coach!!! The results have been amazing!!! I am so back on track.

Last night I did finish my work food prep for the week!! GAME ON!!!

Oh and Kelly and Sheesh - totally did not wear my fb yesterday (forgot in other bra) so I'm going to be the first place loser this week and that's ok! I'm still going to give you a run....working on catching up!

Sarah - so happy to hear you're still getting your walking in. While we don't have snow, we are in the 30 & 40 which is FREEZING for us (yep remember we are in 110s in the summer).

Kelly - going to check the mobile access today!!!

Kelly, when I click on the forward arrow to watch the film, nothing happens, but it seems that most of the content is in the text. I also noticed that 6 teaspoons. I checked and it seems that there's 4 grams in a teaspoon of sugar. So that means that sugar intake should be about 24 grams per day. That's a tall order. Things were way off normal during Christmas, but I went back and looked at a two-week period in late November/early December, and I'm eating about twice that amount. My goal is decrease this, and I'm going to start with an interim goal of no more than 40 grams or 10 teaspoons this next week, and I'll try to keep decreasing until I'm around the 24 grams. Since milk is something I don't want to give up, I should probably start the day by adding my morning and evening milk to my food log, and then go from there.

Lois, that IS cold for AZ. You'll be grilling that chicken with gloves on!

So--essentially, I stood still. Looking at my stats, I'm once more struck with the fact that in order to move the scale downward, my deficit needs to be in the 600s or more. Whether it's my logging, or my metabolism, or something else--it doesn't matter. It is what it is. So now that the holidays and all the out-of-ordinary foods and social eating occasions are behind me, I have to concentrate on getting the deficit to that area, and as I've said several times recently, getting carbs and sugar lower. Here is what I averaged per day during the past 7 days:

    Burn: 1808
    Intake: 1399
    Deficit: 409
    Activity: 69 minutes
    Steps: 6277

    Carbs: 152 g
    Sugar: 75 g

Nutrition breakdown: 21% Protein; 43% carbs: 36% fat

Looks like I also really need to focus on fats. I get a lot in the cheese and milk I consume.

    Good Morning :D

Sarah - I have a feeling the video won't work for you because it's from a Canadian website.
Try this link instead, as it's from YouTube... so maybe it'll work.

All is well over this way. I'm back at work as of yesterday and finally started back working out last night. It was difficult to go and hard to stay, but I did it and felt great afterwards!

I hope everyone is doing well this week!

Thanks, Kelly. I'll check the link over the weekend. I've had a grueling day at my desk, and I think I'll have to work this weekend to finish a task that has to be sent for review Monday morning. Ugh!

After agonizing over sugar, I finally found something on the USDA Website that says the 6 teaspoons for women is "added sugar" and not natural sugar found in fruit, cheese, and milk. That will help, but I still need to watch things like ketchup and pasta sauces, which can have quite a bit of added sugar.

I envy your workout. I had to work double time almost the past two days. I haven't been able to walk since Tuesday night. I do hope to get some activity in tonight--although I have a non-work meeting to attend.

Sarah, I have read the same thing about it being "added sugar", so that's what I've been going with. Basically I just try to get my sugars down. I try not to use sauces when I don't have to, as they're loaded with sugar and I never drink juice anymore. I watch the packages of the foods I do buy, to make sure it doesn't have too much sugar.

Hopefully you managed to find time to get some activity in! It feels so good once you're done. I know work can be busy, but at times, you just have to say I need to do this for myself and work can wait for 5-10 minutes. Just go for a quick stroll.

    Have an awesome day!

Congrats on the weight loss, Kelly. You are doing so well. Showing the rest of us up ;):)

I have got to get back on track. I have been doing well at home but failed to resist the cookies and donuts that were at the office last week. Sigh... and I KNOW I should be watching my sugar intake and I did it anyways :( Shame on me. And it didn't help that work was super busy, put in about 7 hrs of overtime and that means little time for exercise or stepping. But, today starts a new weekend and a new chance to get moving in the direction I need to go. I've got soooo much to do around the house this weekend and I'm tired before I even start.

    SW 198
    LW 179.8
TW (actually Wed's weight but couldn't get here until now) 179.4

I expect to do much better this week, but will need more self control than I've been demonstrating.

Hi Light! A loss is still a loss, so congrats! Keep on moving and don't punish yourself for having a cookie or donut. Just dust it off (the crumbs lol) and move on and keep trying to eat healthier!
