Am going to record The Food Unwrapped prog on C4 tonight as I hope they will be pointing out the dangers of the low fat (high sugar ) so called diet food. Please post your comments

Ooh, didn't see this. Was it any good? Worth trying to find on 4OD?

No it was disappointingly trivial except the bit on energy drinks which explains how they are basically sugar and to be avoided IMHO!0

I like the info on soups being more filling than meals. Might try them a bit more to test that one out0

I gave up low fat yogurt because it has aspartame in it which seems to inflame my joints!!
I therefore avoid anything with 'diet' on the label.
Personally, because of this weird reaction that I have to artificial sweeteners, I always just go for the 'real' stuff, just less of it.0 -

I also avoid anything with diet in it too. Eat less , taste the real food and move more- works for me
As a child a jug with glasses for water was on the table at every school lunch

Never saw that prog but agree many diet products aren't worth bothering with, if low fat they're often higher sugar or salt etc and not worth the expense imo, apart from diet/low-sugar versions of soft drinks which I don't buy much of anyway. Your 'eat less, eat real food, move more' system works for me too.0

Interestingly you don't get the same affect if you just drank the water. Its the consistency of the soup that has the affect.

I just watch the show on C4 catch up. I found the section on Gluten free interesting and it never occurred to me that they would be replacing the gluten with 'gums' and additional things like fat and sugar. I never really go near gluten free foods myself but it is amazing how popular it has become recently - you see if everywhere and a lot of people believe it to be healthier. I include myself in that. Very interesting0

the sad thing is that lots of people who don't need gluten free are eating it thinking it is 'healthier' talk about a first world problem!0

Yep - some interesting bits :-) Im going to be looking at gluten free things a bit closer too, not that I was avoiding glutens before!0
