There and back again....a failing fat mans story

Hi all! Well I was on here religiously until Fall of 2012 when my mom reached the end stage and passed away from brain cancer. I finally decided that I needed to do something to pull myself out of the return to bad habits that had slowly worked back into my life. So I jumped on a scale to find that (even through I am still down about 60 pounds from where I started) I had gained a little over 50 pounds since mom was diagnosed and about 35 since mom passed away.
So my question is what tips do you guys have for someone that's fallen off the wagon and trying to get back on the right track? Thanks to all of you for reading this and I look forward to reading your success stories on here as I go along.

Wish I had some advice for you, but I'm only just returning myself after regaining most of my previous loss. Hopefully we'll both benefit from others' advice.0

first I want to say i am very sorry about your mom
tips hmm I say take it one day at a time, some days I even have to take it a meal at a time because I go nuts. also do exercises you really like. I know I do zumba because it's like dancing so it makes it fun for me. also try and plan out your food for the week. and keep coming back and talking chat with as many people as you can because everyone has tips to help. Welcome back0 -
Tips: honestly diarize all food/drink. Weigh/measure food you do eat. Weigh yourself only once a week during weight loss phase. Cut out alcohol. Begin exercising when physically possible. Walking counts. Make friends here at MFP. Community helps.

I cannot echo enough that community helps. Having friend on here you want to check in with and share your successes with and that will pick you up when you are struggling. Also, I love the title of your post, you must be a Tolkein fan :-)0
