Looking for your help and my accountability

I've been on Weight Watchers for many years.....either on free maintenance or paying weekly/monthly because my weight went up again. I can't continue paying monthly and further more, by this time, you'd think I'd be able to do this using my own accountability to me!!! I've just gotten started with MFP and I like the concept. A big problem for me is that I am very limited with exercise. I've had numerous back surgerys that have left me with limited flexibility although I am able to get out on slow walks. Enough, let's get started

Hi Lois and welcome.
I'm a great example that you do not need to exercise to lose weight. No, I'm not advocating that but, when I started, I could not even walk a block most days. I still lost the weight I wanted and have now been on maintenance for 4 months. I am able to walk more now most days...thank goodness....and it is easier to exercise with less weight to carry around. I just focused on what I ate and made sure I enjoyed the food I had.

Thank you for your response to my to my first addition to MFP. I'm so new to this that I still don't know which keys to click for what so bear with me. I want this to work. I know it's not a diet but a life change. I did it before with my earlier lose so I know I can do it again.Hi Lois and welcome.

I really appreciate your helping hand. I will need all the mutual support I can get. I've done this before with my previous lose while on Weight Watchers but somehow this next 26 pounds seems like a challenge. I don't know why. My mind set seems like it's in the right place but there is a fear of failing which seems "dumb". The only one I would be failing is me! So now is the time I must get my head together and move forward. I'm a very accomplished person so why do I find this to be so difficult.........0 -
Hi Lois and Welcome!
You'll find this group to be supportive and a great inspiration when you're in need. Although I don't post much, I'm usually around reading and seeing what everyone is doing. If I can help anytime, feel free to Friend me and/or send me a Message.
We're all in this together and can definitely help each other. My motto is... "Keep Moving Forward" and I believe that's all we need to do to succeed.

Welcome aboard Lois!
I've really benefited greatly from having a group of wonderful people here to check in with every day. I'm much more likely to stick with it than when, if I needed support, I had to wait for a weight loss meeting to roll around. Good luck! Lots of folks here to keep you motivated.

Welcome, Lois! Feel free to add me as a friend if you like. I have benefitted so much from the support of this group. It is, as you say, really a life style change and sharing the journey makes a huge difference. - Kathy in Worcester, MA0

Thank you everyone for replying to to my 1st message. As I said, it's taken me this long to find all your thoughtful replies. It feels good knowing that others care about plight but then, we're all on the same journey together but on different roads. I really like the food diary. It's so easy and quick to get calories, etc. and add to the diary. Unlike a WW meeting, I feel you're here for me 27/7 and it's free!0

Welcome Lois. I have been in MFP for about a year and a half I guess and have seen a lot of groups and people come and go. I have come and go myself as so many things have happened in my life, but this group has stayed strong. If you wander away, it will be here to come back to.
Personally, I have also been on and off WW for years. This works better for me. Meetings were not really good for me because I was working a very high stress job in those days and it was just one more thing to have to schedule and after a few weeks I came to dread them. I did and do like the program though. I find that here the key is that I can personalize it better. Very easy to download favorite recipes and an easy system to use. Also, the group is here daily for support and you can check in with friends any time.
For exercise, I personally recommend yoga. Sounds crazy if you have no experience with it, but yoga for chronic pain is amazing and there are ways to modify it and do it gently and increase your ability to move. I would check out the yogajournal.com site and get to know it. Its one of the few magazines that I actually continue to get because its inspirational and good bathtub reading (I also continue to get Prevention because it has a lot of little one page articles and I tear them out and post them on the frig once a month and use them for monthly inspiration).
Hope you like it here!

Good morning Lois! I want to second DreamOn's suggestion that you try yoga. I have back pain that prevents me from doing so many things I would love to do. Whenever I take a yoga class I'm amazed at how great I feel and how long that feeling can last throughout the day. Best wishes!0
