Hi all! I'm so excited to have found this group! I've spent the last 2 days reading all the plethora of information here and on the website, as well as success stories and I'm so excited to get started on this solid approach to weight loss!

I'll give some quick background and then move on to questions. I just had a baby (my 4th and last) 2 weeks ago! After getting home from the hospital, I immediately started tracking my calories with mfp. I set it at the "1 pound per week mark." I've lost 14 lbs since then. Obviously some of that is probably blood loss and such. Anyway, I'm ready to start em2wl today! I don't ever want to feel deprived on low calories and insane amounts of cardio again!

I am excited to start a weight lifting program but obviously cannot yet...until at least 6 weeks postpartum. I went on the scooby website and calculated my BMR, TDEE and all that. I have a question about my activity level. I am a stay at home mom so most of my activity is sitting (cuddling, reading, watching with kids) and standing (cooking, dishes, laundry, etc) I do try to walk around my kitchen island a few times a day (about 2000 steps or so) What would my activity level be? I'll be honest, I sit a lot more than I stand or walk. I set my activity level to "Desk job with little exercise" but I don't know if this is right?

A few other random questions...I will try to stick with the macros 40/30/30, but how important is this? What is the margin of error? Is it okay to be slightly off on this everyday?

I feel like I had more questions, but I can't think of them now. So I guess I'll start with this! Thanks in advance for all the responses!

So right now, no exercise at all outside walking around house?

Just use MFP then, because that's exactly what it's giving when you select sedentary. TDEE with no exercise included. Using the same BMR that Scooby is using.

    Will you be nursing?
Because that TDEE chart doesn't take that, nor increased daily activity, in to account. It only deals with exercise.

And then using MFP set to maintain rather than weight loss, nursing can create a deficit as you meet your daily eating goal.

If the kids aren't old enough that you are constantly running around with/for them, and only increased standing for cooking, then sedentary would probably be right.

If you are in a range of say 30 lbs to lose, the 40/30/30 usually happens to hit the macro levels that are usually better setup by grams per lb of bodyweight.
Might just do your math and see if it works out that way. You'll need to see what that maintenance level eating is when you set MFP to maintain.
Protein at 0.82 g per lb bodyweight. grams x 5 for calories that is.
Fat at 0.35 g per lb BW. grams x 9 for those calories.
    Carbs get rest.
So protein & fat cal / eating goal = %

Hi and welcome to the group! I'm a stay at home mom as well, and for the longest time, I really underestimated my activity level because I didn't feel like I was doing too much. Sedentary could be right if you really do not get up much, but you may very well fall under lightly active on Scooby. Like Heybales mentioned, nursing will create more of a deficit if that is the case, so that would make an even higher activity level.

As far as the macros go, I personally try to hit the 30% protein goal and let the rest fall where they may. Carbs are important for energy and protein is very important to help keep muscle as we lose weight but I don't stress too much about meeting them spot on (as long as I get my protein). Others are more dedicated to meeting macros. Starting out, focus more on getting your correct calorie level in place and then you might find that you can begin to pay more attention to macros.
