Fell off the wagon.

So this weekend my boyfriend and I went to a casino/resort for the weekend and I completely fell off the LCHF wagon. I had booze, soda, late night pizza, buffet filled with carbs, and a bacon bleu burger with the bun and fries. I feel absouletly miserable today. I couldn't even get out of bed and called in sick for work cuz I knew my head would be pounding all day and couldn't handle dealing with my clients (social services). I weighed myself today and I am up 5lbs.

Im looking for some words of encouragement at this point. Im assuming the 5lbs is water weight. How long will it take to go away? When will this headache go away? GRR..its so much easier to do well when im just eating at home alone and at work.

That is my problem too...weekends, even just being home is much harder for me.

You will probably lose it fairly quickly. That is one downside when low carbing. I think the longer you do it, the less likely you will "cheat". (I don't know how long you have been eating this way though).

I also try to keep in mind how I'll feel after I eat it. Probably worse than resisting. Every time I resist, it seems to make it easier. If you like this WOE, stick with it. Take this as a lesson learned and move on...you got this!

I started LCHF in the beginning of November. I stopped around Christmas time and then got back on track the first of the new year. I do enjoy the WOE and feel great on it when I am sticking to it. Just amazes me how crappy I felt after just a few meals of high carbs.

Don't beat yourself up over it. It happens.

You will lose that 5lbs, but not as quickly as the very first 5lbs. This WOE takes a while to become habit, just like any other habit. You'll remember how bad you feel this week and it may keep you on track next time. Or it may not. It's a long journey, don't get caught up in the moments.

Sounds like you're going through the keto flu again and doesn't that suck? I did the same thing this weekend. Went out with my cousin, totally over did it with the booze, then sick as a dog on Saturday and ate crap on Sunday.

I'm working my way back to ketosis as well. It's tough, but worth it!

I'm new to this, but I have less cravings than expected by upping my fats ridiculously so! Also, adding the broth when I start to have headaches and such has helped me avoid most of the carb flu symptoms.

Wishing you luck. I haven't had an away from home weekend adventure as you did, but I must be wacky because weekends are easier for me. I have more control over what I cook and where I go... Which to me is hilarious, because when trying normally, week days were easier (schedule!) and weekends were harder!!

In another forum in which I participate we decided that every good post deserves a soundtrack. What is better for this than Chumbawamba?

HAHA GREAT SONG! Totally made my day! Thank you! I drank my tea with coconut oil and whipping cream this morning with my 4 slices of bacon. I packed some hot sausage with peppers and onions in butter and mozzarella cheese for lunch and packed a nice steak with romaine lettuce and blue cheese dressing for dinner tonight ( I waitress so I pack my dinners those nights)!

So ready to get back on track. Scale came down a half a pound this morning!

ncrissey I did one carb loading on Friday after Thanksgiving. Felt awful the next few days and it took a week for the 6 pound water gain to work off. Pasta and milkshake was used to commit the crime.

I did it a couple weeks just using using oranges and cherries that were about to spoil. Knocked me out of ketosis but no hangover effect and I only gained 3 pounds. I really never felt that bad.

The Thanksgiving experience just about did me in and I have NO desire to ever repeat that but it did drive home the fact after abusing Carbs for 40 long years they are no longer my friend. Just from these two carb loadings after into ketosis for some time I think processed food carbs are worse for me than whole food carbs perhaps.

Yes I def do not wish to repeat the after effects of my carb binge again!

Saddle up - get back on the horse and don't beat yourself up. There's always a lesson to be learned and maybe next time you'll make better choices for yourself. And if you don't, again, this is life - we aren't perfect and sometimes we just gotta live a little and pay the price. No big deal - you ain't dead yet! :) Drink some powerade zero and take a good long walk or run if you feel up to it tomorrow. Feel better!
