Hey y'all! I used to be that person who fell in the eating 1200 cals a day and busting your *kitten* of doing cardio 2 hours a day kinda person. Over the course of a year i've smartened up, bought myself some heavy weights, and have been giving er now for a couple months with lifting. I typically do 5 days a week, with one day being HIIT cardio, soon to be 2, and am looking to switch my routine next week and doing Ice Cream Fitness 5x5. Seeing how I was eating at a low deficit (even working out with a trainer who had me at 1400-1500 cals on workout days), i slowly have bumped them up 1800 calories on workout days with a 40c/35p/25f for my macros. I'm pretty good at reaching that number. On rest days I typically just eat around 1500-1600 calories, but still higher protein.
Do these numbers seem ok? I've used the scooby site, and im slowly working up to 1900 calories. I'm 5'8, 162 pounds, and about 27% body fat.

how much of a deficit is worked into the 1900? I am 5'5', 25yo F 200lbs, and I eat between 2200-2600 depending on my workout for the day/rest day. So you might be able to eat a little bit more, but go based on how you're feeling! I know when I was down around 1700 my gym performance suffered.0

How old are you?0

And if you are using the TDEE method, you should be eating the same calories every single day.0

Sorry - saw you are 32. You're numbers aren't even close to high enough. I put them into Scooby and put you at 3-5 hrs of activity with a 15% deficit. This gives you 2005 calories to eat every single day, even on rest days. Quite honestly, it might be even higher if you are at all active outside of your exercise (ex. job or have kids or just on your feet a lot).0

I have a sit down job. Because ive been eating at so little for so long im scared to have it go higher too quickly. Ill bump it higher as I go along.0

You'll find that you gain water weight right from the beginning - don't freak out and don't go backward. You want to stick at it until the water weight settles...give it a few weeks at least.0

Don't be scared! You are doing the right thing upping your intake. 2000 still sounds low. I know it seems like a lot at first but be patient be consistent and you'll be amazed at the long term progress you will make. A year from now you may find yourself maintaining at 2600 with no cardio. Its so worth it to nourish your body! Good job!0
