Quick Question- Deficit?

If FitBit gives me my estimated calorie burn, do I eat back all that it gives me? Does it automatically give you a deficit, or do you have to consciously eat less than it gives you to be in a deficit?

I have not gotten my FitBit yet, but it's on its way and I want to be sure I do it right.

    I am wondering this, too.

I have only had my fitbit charge hr for one day. I have noticed it gives me my calories that I have left to eat and it gives me calories in vs. calories out. Last night when I went to bed it said I had 160 calories left to eat but the calories in vs. calories out said I was over in calories for the day....BUT when I woke up this morning the calories in vs. calories out said I was under for yesterday. I guess the calories I burned while sleeping made it go under. So, I am not sure which one I am suppose to follow to lose weight. Eat all the calories it says I am suppose to eat or just make sure I am not over in the calories in vs. calories out.....

That tile for Calories In/Out is about worthless really - because it only looks at that single moment in time up to that point.

Look at before breakfast, having burned calories sleeping. Way under.
Have a big breakfast because you like that big meal. Way over.

Neither represents well what rest of the day may be. I'm not sure how useful at all.
It's not like you'd want to rely on it to tell you that you can have that desert for lunch perhaps, when you got another meal coming up still.

Why aren't you using MFP's eating goal. The whole reason to sync it is for MFP to correct it's estimate of what you burn daily - and then remove a deficit to cause weight loss.

Don't try to follow 2 paths to the same destination. It'll aggravate you.
    Use Fitbit for fitness goals.
