I am a fairly new mom. My daughter was born last January with many medical issues. We spent 5 months in the hospital. I was about 3 hours from home and always afraid to leave my baby girls side, even to use the bathroom. I had no home cooked meal for 5 months, all fast food. It was so bad the employees at chipotle knew me by first name. We are now home and she still has many medical needs that i do from home. A few weeks ago i was doing laundry and put on a pair of shorts hidden in the back of my dresser. (I remembered why they were there, they were too loose and always fell down no matter how many times i tied them.) Well i put these shorts on and now they are so tight i dont need to adjust or worry about them falling down. I broke down crying and i asked myself "how could you let youself go like this?" All my time was devoted to taking care of my daughter and her needs. But how can i fully be there for her if im to tired after eating a family sized bag of hot cheetos? How could i teach her to love herself if her mom couldnt do the same.. I had no motivation until i put those dang shorts on. I just want to lose this weight but i have no time to step into a gym. I want to do this. I need to do this. I dont want to cry everytime i put on a pair of shorts. I am always told how beautiful i am but i just cant see it. My mom is always afraid for me to go on a diet because i used to be anorexic. I dont want to be a stick figure i just want to look good and comfortable in my own skin!!!!!! Advice is more than welcome. At home exercise routines, healthy meals. Thank you

First of all, you are an incredible brave person. I can't begin to imagine what you went through and are going through with your little one. Do Not beat yourself up. You will get yourself back, I know it. We are here to support you and your journey.

Start slow. Small changes at a time. One goal. One small goal. Like instead of eating the family sized bag, have a serving (according to the nutrition facts). Do it one night and see how it feels. Did you feel proud? Excited? Motivated? Go from there. Small, easily attainable goals will give you confidence and motivation. Try not to focus on the big mountain in front of you. Just put one foot in front of the other, and keep going. If you don't have time for the gym (which you totally don't!!), find other ways. Play with your baby. Lift her up above your head and kiss her nose, and you're working your arms with 10-20lbs weights (depending on your baby's weight)! Dance in the living room with her in your arms, while singing silly songs. There are many ways to get some exercise in, without leaving your baby behind. Involve her! Youtube momma/baby workouts, and you'll find tons of ideas! Don't beat yourself up over it. You will succeed and make your daughter proud of your accomplishment! <3
  • Thank you. Makes me feel like i have a chance. I started my first work out today. As soon as i wanted to quit i kept going. And once i finished it i was definitely happy and excited that i was able to finish. So far my daughter likes watching me exercise she seem to get a kick out of it and at the same time i get to teach her counting.

You have more than just a chance! You WILL do this. You have to think that you WILL do this! Visualize yourself accomplishing your goal. Even small ones. Visualizations help change your mindset and can help you to reach your goals.

It's fantastic that your daughter is enjoying your workouts!! Makes you feel less guilty about it! Way to go!! Keep it up!! :)
